How to beat the 1-hour mark in reading (part 1).
Are y'all with me?

Let's delve into this

While practicing the reading tests, you must have discovered how slow it is for you to locate the answers.

And this makes it impossible for you to finish the test within an hour.

You end up scoring 24 at best 27 out of 40 questions. You become frustrated because with each passage you can't score above 30!😔

And to make matters worse your exam is by the corner and you seem not to make any headway.😩

The thought that you are about to throw away N83,000($200+=IELTS REGISTRATION FEE) scares you!😖

I understand how this makes you feel but I want to tell you today that...

YOU ARE NOT ALONE...

because most people have complained to me about this problem

and my response is what the entire thread is about. But before we discuss the solution I need you to realize one important fact.

" With Mastery comes Speed"

Let's use a simple analogy here;

If you are a woman reading this.

You will agree with me that the first time you cooked okra soup, it took you about 3 hrs.

But with time depending on your current age, you cook the same soup within 15 minutes!
Provided the ingredients for the food are available.

(If you are a man reading this, I bet you can follow because you eat okra *winks*)😉

The question now is,
how come what took a young girl 3 hrs to do now takes the same person 15 mins?

Why?

MASTERY!

When you do something CORRECTLY repetitively you tend to increase the rate at which that is done.

In IELTS. the same thing is applicable,

How?

Most of us, hardly read in a day.

Our best form of reading is through social media using our phones.

we don't even read we skim and scan.

So when we are now presented with an IELTS Reading test that requires more mental power.

Understanding the passage becomes a struggle.

Which reflects in the delay we encounter when we want to locate the answers

Step 4: Skim that part to get a general idea and go back to the question to check if it matches the question

Step 5: Close-read that part and choose your answer.

SIMPLE RIGHT?

Oh, lest I forget, for those who don't know what skimming and scanning are;
Scan: what you do when you are searching for a contact on your phone

Skim: what you do when you are reading those hot gossip on gist lover or instablog

Do you get the point now?😉

Cheers and I hope you learned something from this;
