The Lagos State Government has clarified how the monthly environmental sanitation will work ahead of its return on April 25.

The exercise will hold every last Saturday of the month from 6:30am to 8:30am. During this period, movement will be controlled to allow residents clean their homes, surroundings and drainage areas properly.

Officials from different agencies will be on ground to monitor compliance, and inspections will be carried out during and after the exercise. Anyone who fails to comply may face penalties under the state environmental law.

The government also revealed that LAWMA trucks will move around to pick up waste, and there will even be rewards for the cleanest areas and streets to encourage participation.
