*2027: Gov. Yusuf Approached Tinubu Over Defection Plan With Kwankwaso’s Consent – Sanusi Bature*

The Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, has said that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had approached President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over political defection into the All Progressives Congress (APC) with Kwankwaso's consent.

He further alleged that the move had the full consent and backing of former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and former Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.

He made the statement while speaking during an appearance on the Arise TV Morning Show, where he addressed growing political narratives in Kano.

According to him, the alleged political discussions form part of wider behind-the-scenes engagements being circulated ahead of the 2027 general elections, where Governor Yusuf decided to honour the invitation of President Tinubu to join the APC as a mitigation for the current political miscalculation that led Kwankwaso into joining a pro-Biafra team.

*Kwankwaso Allegedly Working for Tinubu’s Re-election in Disguise*

Mr Dawakin Tofa also alleged that former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is indirectly or strategically working towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

He suggested that certain political alignments and interactions within Nigeria’s evolving political landscape could indicate subtle cooperation between opposing blocs, though he emphasized that this was part of prevailing political discussions rather than confirmed fact.

He noted that political activities ahead of 2027 are already generating competing narratives across the country.

*Peter Obi Will Not Be Accepted in Kano*

Mr Dawakin Tofa stated that former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, may face political limitations in Kano State due to what he described as the conservative nature of the state’s political environment.

He argued that political acceptance in Kano is often shaped by long-standing ideological and regional considerations, which he claimed may influence voter perception ahead of the 2027 elections.

He added that such discussions reflect ongoing political analysis within the country’s pre-election space.

*Alleged Political Movements Between Abeokuta and Ibadan*

The Kano State Government spokesperson also alleged that some individuals perceived as opposing a Yoruba presidency are engaging in political consultations and strategic movements between major South-West cities such as Abeokuta and Ibadan, presenting Sen. Kwankwaso as a confused politician who abandoned his ideology to serve self-interest.

He suggested that such engagements are part of broader national political maneuvering ahead of 2027 that will eventually favour President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because, according to him, Kwankwaso has successfully thrown the opposition into disarray.

*Disputed Claim of 5 Million Crowd at Kwankwaso Residence*

Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa questioned claims that about 5 million supporters attended a political gathering at the residence of former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing the figures as exaggerated and unrealistic.

He argued that the claimed turnout does not align with practical crowd capacity assessments, noting that even major public venues in Kano, such as the Sani Abacha Stadium, have a capacity of about 16,000 people.

According to him, such figures often emerge from political narratives intended to project strength and popularity during election cycles, but in reality, Kwankwaso's residence cannot accommodate more than 2,000 people.

*Claim That Biafra Advocacy Cannot Be Accepted in Kano Politics*

Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa further stated that Kano State remains a conservative political environment and suggested that individuals associated with Biafra advocacy may face challenges gaining acceptance within the mainstream political structure of the state.

He linked this assertion to broader national political sensitivities and ideological divisions that continue to shape political discourse across regions.

According to Sanusi Bature, Kwankwaso hates Peter Obi, and Peter Obi also hates Kwankwaso. He added that people with divergent political views and contrary ideologies cannot work together to win an election and govern a sophisticated country like Nigeria, as such an arrangement would be counterproductive.
