Let's debunk the popular myth that "you should drink water to stay hydrated and avoid dehydration."
The reality:
1. Dehydration is a natural response to physical activity, and the body has mechanisms to manage it.
2. Water intake should be based on individual needs, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
3. Overhydration (hyponatremia) is a greater risk than dehydration, especially for endurance athletes.
4. Thirst is a reliable indicator of when you need to drink water.
