The Power of the 'Hand-Over-Hand' Prompt
Hello everyone! 🌟
In our journey as parents and educators, we often look for ways to help our children navigate new challenges without causing frustration. Today, I want to share a glimpse into one of my sessions where we used the Hand-Over-Hand (HOH) prompting technique.

What is it?
Hand-over-hand is a physical prompt where we place our hands over the child's to guide them through a specific task—in this case, matching shapes and aligning them with the correct pegs.

Why we use it:
Building Muscle Memory: It helps the child feel the physical movement required for the task.
Reducing Frustration: It ensures success in the early stages of learning a new skill.

Creating Connection: It’s a moment of physical and emotional support.
Remember: Our goal is always to gradually "fade" this prompt as the child gains confidence, moving from the hand to the wrist, then the elbow, until they can do it all on their own!

Think of one daily task (like brushing teeth, stacking blocks, or using a spoon) where your child might benefit from a gentle hand-over-hand guide this week.
