THE BATTLE OF LIGHT AND DARKNESS
Read John 16:1-6
Verse for Meditation: "They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service” (Joh 16:2)
From the time of Adam, there is an unending battle between light and darkness. Abel did nothing in particular that warranted his death. It was the battle between light and darkness that claimed his light. He died just because he chose to be on the side of the truth.
Why did the brothers of Joseph hate him so much? Why did Saul, the first king of Israel, waste so much time pursuing David? Why did Herod Antipas use the head of John the Baptist as a souvenir? Why did Stephen die a painful death in the hands of the people of his nation? Why did Caiaphas and his team prefer Barabbas to Jesus? The answer is the same; it was the battle of light and darkness.
It is not possible for you to belong to the camp of the light and not have darkness to contend with. The Master did not promise us a battle-free life; He only assured us victory all the time.
"If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also” (Joh 15:19-20)
Those who are afraid of opposition from the world cannot have a position in Christ. If you are accepted by all in the world, it means that you are standing for nothing in particular.
It is important that you do not go everywhere making enemies out of everybody. Do all you can to avoid self-inflicted injuries and self-imposed enemies. Do your best to present your best to all. Be a light in the midst of the dark world.
“Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled” (Heb 12:14-15)
Having done all you can to be a friend to all, do not be afraid of those who chose to stand in positions of enemies. God that you are standing for is able and will surely deliver you.
The worst opposition you are facing for standing for the truth may be from among the religious people, the church people. This is not strange at all; Jesus was handed over to Pilate by the head of the religious people of His day. This opposition must never lead you to compromise. Stand for the truth and stand tall. If you are not ready to die for the truth you believe in, you are yet to be a man of conviction. Stand for the truth, and the Truth will always stand for and with you.

Today’s Prayers

1. Appreciate the Lord for the gift of today and the peace in your life and your environment.
2. Father, deliver me from a life of compromise today. Help me to stand at all times for you and the truth in Jesus name.
3. Powers of darkness, rising against me for my faith, collapse now in Jesus name.
4. Strength of the Almighty, come to my life afresh today in Jesus name.
5. Lord, arise and help my life. Supply all my needs today in Jesus name.
The Lord will fight all your battles and give you total victory from today in Jesus name.
Those who stand against you shall surely fall for your sake in Jesus name.
Have a great day.
Shalom!

THE HELPER YOU NEED
Read John 15:20-27
Verse for Meditation: "But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me” (Joh 15:26)
Every man needs help one way or the other and at one time or the other. Even the strongest among us need help. No matter how strong you are, you will be weak somehow, somewhere. At your weak point and in your weak situation, you will certainly need help.
In the journey of life, we all need strong companionship; we need someone who will walk by our sides, giving us comfort in times of trouble and strength in times of challenges.
Good enough, that is what the Master promised us.
"Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you” (Joh 17:7).
That Helper is the Holy Spirit. He is our comforter in times of trouble, our support when we are weak; He is our defense in the midst of battles, our counsellor during confusion, and our advocate in the presence of the Father.
A Christian without the Holy Spirit is like a car without an engine; it is as good as being useless. The reason why many believers struggle and are in constant frustration is because they are yet to discover and fully actualize the ministry of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
If the Holy Spirit is present in your life, you can never fall into deception.
“But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him” (1 Joh 2:27)
If the Holy Spirit is present in your life, you will never lose your direction or be misled. The Holy Spirit will always reveal the mind of God to you.
“But as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God” (1 Cor 2:9-10)
You have a right to the effective companionship of the Holy Spirit. Invite Him into your life today. He is the source of my strength. He is the secret behind all my smiles, whatever happens. He is the best friend who will not desert me in times of trouble. He can also be there for you if you make Him your companion and helper.

Today’s Prayers
1. Praise God for the gift of the Holy Spirit and all He will do in your life from today.
2. Spirit of God, I hand over my life to You. Take over from today in Jesus name.
3. Powers of oppression around my life, be wasted today in Jesus name.
4. All weapons gathered from the Kingdom of darkness to destroy me, be consumed by the fire of God today in Jesus name.
5. Father, arise for the needs of my life and those of my family today in Jesus name.
I command all frustrations to disappear from your life this moment in Jesus name.
Your help from God shall not fail in Jesus name.
Have a great day.
Shalom!
