YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT (2)
In Nollywood movies, it's common to see a Policeman waltz into a house & shout,
'Are you Mr XYZ? You're under arrest'
And when Mr. XYZ & his family members scream, wail & ask, 'What did he do'?
The Policeman will proudly say, ' When you come to our office, you'd know what you did' OR 'You're now crying, when you were sharing the money, you didn't cry' and many people are forced to start defending themselves there, without even knowing why they were arrested.
THIS IS WRONG IN LAW.
Section 6 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act provides that:

The Policeman or anyone making the arrest MUST inform the arrested person IMMEDIATELY of the reason for arrest

The Policeman MUST inform the arrested person of his
(a) RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT
(b) RIGHT TO CONSULT A LAWYER OF HIS CHOICE, before writing, speaking or answering any question and
(c) FREE Legal representation by Legal Aid

What this means for you
If you're apprehended, arrested or know someone who is or you're at any point in time, when you're confused whether to speak or not ๐ซ, particularly at a police station or before a police man.
Choose TO BE SILENT! OR Simply say,
'I choose to remain silent until I speak with a Lawyer's
