The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced that its 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions will take place on Monday, May 11, where crucial decisions—including the minimum cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) cycle—will be finalized. The announcement was made in a statement issued on Sunday by the board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.
According to the statement, the meeting will be held at the Body of Benchers Auditorium located in the Institute and Research District, FCC Phase III, Jabi, within Abuja. The event will be attended by major education stakeholders, and key policy directions will be formally presented by the Maruf Alausa, who serves as the Minister of Education.
JAMB noted that the annual policy meeting remains a vital platform where stakeholders collectively determine the minimum acceptable UTME score, as well as broader admission guidelines for universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. It also serves as an avenue to harmonize admission procedures across all tertiary institutions in the country.
The board added that the 2026/2027 admission exercise will officially commence following the meeting, emphasizing that participating institutions must strictly adhere to the agreed-upon policies. The gathering is expected to reinforce compliance and ensure that schools maintain transparency and fairness throughout their admission processes.
