ONNA LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL MOVE TO PROVIDE LOGO FOR THE UNIQUE SYMBOL/IDENTITY OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT.

The Legislative Council of Onna Local Government Area has made move to provide a well designed LOGO to give the Local Government a unique symbolic identify.

The move was sequel to the motion brought to the floor of the house by Hon. (Eld.) Nsikan Essien - Councilor representing Awa ward-6 (Nung Oku Itina), who pointed out the needs to secure a Logo for the sake of positioning Onna as a unique brand with outstanding symbol.
According to Hon. Essien, "the design/provision of Logo for Onna would bring out our history and values in the general conscience of heritage as symbols to this effect would be clearly indicated on the Logo-design".
He further submitted that if given necessary positive Legislative considerations on the motion by all members, the Logo would to be launched on the forth-coming 1st October celebration.

The Leader of the Legislative Council - Hon. Collins Emmanuel commended the empowerment committee and also mandated the committee on Local Government and Legislative Affairs to meet on the motion and report back to the House soon for further Legislative actions.

Still at the plenary, the sub Central Committee on SKILL ACQUISITION TRAINING & EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME chaired by Hon. (Eld.) Nsikan Essien submitted their report on strategic plans for the commencement of the training/empowerment programme.
On their report, Hon. Essien intimated the house on the modalities of the programme, cost implications, training duration, selection process and the approved center for the training.
The Leader - Hon. Collins Emmanuel admonished the general House and committee to joint hands together for the final arrangement toward kick-starting the programme.

Meanwhile, the house has adjourned its plenary to the later day.

ONNA LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL SET TO EMBACK ON YOUTHS TRAINING/EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME.

By way of "giving back to the society as a reciprocative gesture", the 7th Assembly of Onna Legislative Council is set to commence SKILL ACQUISITION TRAINING/EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME for her Constituents.

The initiative as unanimously agreed by all members of the House, was presented on the flour of the hallowed Chamber by Hon. Ekerete Rufus - (Awa IV ) under "matters of urgent public importance" in the Vote of Proceedings of previous plenary.

According to Hon. Rufus, the skill acquisition training would afford Onna Youths with opportunities to learn different skills in order to take advantage of the various industries established by His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel thereafter.
Hon. Rufus said; "one of the reasons our youths remain jobless is not necessarily lack of job, but lack of required skills and technology needed in the present day labour market, this is a golden opportunity through which our teaming Youths would gain employment as well as being self-employed" - he explained.

Following the unanimous agreement with the project by the Honourable Members in the previous sitting, the Leader of the Legislative Council - Hon. Collins Emmanuel inaugurated a 5 man Committee that would saddled with responsibilities of planning the entire modalities and ex*****on of the skill acquisition training/empowerment programme.
The Committee Members includes;
1. Hon. Nsikan Essien - chairman
2. Hon. Edeminam Edeminam - Secretary
3. Hon. (Mrs.) Iniobong Ituen - member
4. Hon. Friday Robinson - member and
5. Hon. Collins Emmanuel - member.

The Leader went further to admonish the committee members to swim into action with immediate effect and map-out strategies for a
superlative training/empowerment programme.

ONNA LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL CONDUCT VALEDICTORY SESSION IN HONOUR OF A FORMER COUNCILOR.

Earlier today, the 7th Assembly of Onna Legislative Council conducted a valedictory session to honour their former colleague Late hon. Chief Friday Udonsek in the hallowed Chamber of the Council.

The session presided upon by the Leader, Hon. Collins Emmanuel was called to order at the exactly hour of 10.45 am and the order paper duly presented by the majority Leader Hon. Edeminam Edeminam.

At the lowering of the Mess, the body of the departed former law maker was ushered into the chamber (by proxy) accompanied by family members.
A minute silent was observed followed by a tribute made by the Leader, while Hon. Iniobong Ituen did the citation.

Late Hon. Chief Friday Udonsek who hail from Ikot Ebidang in Onna Local Government was a Councilor representing Oniong East Ward-2 1992.
The articulated/vibrant former Legislature who also doubled as a supervisor later became a member of caretaker committee 2002.
Still exhibiting zeal and enthusiasm to serve, Late chief Udonsek became the Village head of Ikot Ebidang in Onna Local government, the position he occupied till dead.

At the end of the valedictory session, the body was handed over to the bereaved family for onward obsequies.

ONNA LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL PASSED 2022 BUDGET ESTIMATE TO LAW.

Earlier today, the 7th Assembly of Onna Legislative Council passed to law 2022 budget estimate of the area.
The budget which estimated at #2,401,800,000 (two billion, four hundred and one million, eight hundred thousand naira only), was presented in the floor of the house few weeks ago by the Council Chairman, Hon. (Elder) IniAbasi Akpan Ekanem.

Having scaled through necessary Legislative proceedings in the previous plenaries and sequel to the report from the finance and appreciation committee headed by Hon. Nsikan Emmanuel Akpan, the Leader of the Assembly Hon. Collins Emmanuel called for motion for the passage of the budget which was moved by Hon. Edeminam Edeminam and duly seconded by Hon. Ekerette Rufus.

Again, a bill for an act for the "ENACTMENT OF A BYELAW FOR THE PROVISION OF ONNA CULTURAL HERITAGE AND HONORARY AWARD DAY", sponsored by Hon. Collins Emmanuel-Nung ward-2, was also committed to the house committee on culture and tourism headed by Hon. Beauty Ben for onward Legislative actions.

The Leader who admonished all the members to support the Council Chairman in all ramifications for the overall benefit and development of Onna people, also Charged them to be very committed in the new year in discharge of their civic responsibilities in such that the various wards whom they represent and Onna in general would be proud of them at all times.
