OUR PROJECT HUMAN RESOURCES ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
It has become necessary to know that each of the groups involved in our management of project human resources, or project people resources are usually assigned with various notable responsibilities. In example, our PROJECT SPONSORS or PROJECT OWNERS are responsible for guiding their projects against external forces; making financial resources available through any of their own or recommended sources; giving approval for the project charter and project management plan; prioritising between projects; endorsing the acceptance or rejection of changes; indentifying, and publishing the project managers, and defining the level of authority conferred on the project managers; taking fully in-charge for the approval of project success criteria (PSC); and giving the final acceptance for project products, services, outputs, assets, facilities, infrastructures, or project deliverables at the end of each phase of the project lifecycle, and upon the closing phase for the completion of projects. Our project STAKEHOLDERS could sometimes be saddled with sign-off responsibilities for project management (PM) plan; getting involved in the validation of project scope and deliverables; our stakeholders could also at times, become involved as part of the change control process for the acceptance or rejection of project change requests; and there could probably be circumstances where our project stakeholders could assist in providing project requirements.
Our FUNCTIONAL MANAGERS are responsible for the provision of project resources like work resources comprising of people and equipments, material resources, and cost resources by deploying functional staffs to project teams on the request of a project manager, and much more; taking active participation in the pre-planning and actual planning phase of any project; getting deeply involved in the management of project tasks, activities, and work packages that are contained in work breakdown structure (WBS) of every project within their confines during project implementation; and could be involved in the evaluation and assessment of project team performances alongside the project managers.
Our PROJECT MANAGERS are the principal contributors in the composition of the project charter; and they are fully in-charge of affairs for all the matters relating to all parts of the project like the preparation of the project management planning, dissemination of project communications to project stakeholders; making change management planning for change requests; measuring project progress with appropriate strategies, tools, and techniques for the implementation of all required changes, or corrections; our project managers are also certainly involved in tackling and confronting potential project problems, and are bestowed with the complete authority for the full actualisation of project works; they are principally in-charge of the project team members for the resolution of project variances to the project management plan; fully responsible for the management of project risks with the project team members; they are absolutely taking the sole responsibility and accountability for the project success or project failure, and our project managers are also taking active involvement in the development of all the required management plans like scope management plan, time management plan, cost management plan, quality management plan, communications management plan, human resource (HR) management plan, risk management plan, and procurement management plan.
Our BUSINESS CONSULTANTS are actually engaged for the development of compelling business cases for projects, assisting in writing of the project overview statement (POS), or project charter, conducting all the required financial analysis, carrying out market analysis for project opportunities, assisting our project managers in the management of project resources, helping in the marketing and sales of project products, services, outputs, assets, facilities, infrastructures, and much more.
Our CONTRACTORS are physically and virtually involved in the planning, designing, findings, analysis, development, engineering, assisting in the procurement of project materials and project work resources comprising of people and equipment, fully taking the lead in the configuration, integration, assembling, technical drafting, construction, reconstruction, installation, troubleshooting, repairing, maintenance, and much more in all project tasks, activities, and work packages for our project works that are especially of technical, technological, and engineering nature in any size and category.
