Blessing Is Blessed

With Vicky my favorite nurse/midwife – I'm on a streak! I've been a top fan for 6 months in a row. 🎉
Dear fresh graduates, before you go about drowning in the glaring pressure of life after school, and racking your brain voraciously to discover what next to do with your life, here’s something I found that would help you navigate this phase of your life.
First off, let’s start with that which is the closest to reality and appears most practical for most fresh graduates, especially in Nigeria… the jackpot of landing a dream job, or a dream internship program that is able to pay the bills. A good starting point, indeed!
Second option, acquire your certificate, process your papers and further your studies outside of the country. Voila! Brilliant idea. Kudos to you!
Third option, take out time and learn a digital skill, become so good at it that you deliver maximally, and are highly sought after. The plus here is, even in a world that is almost getting over populated with digital skills experts, you get to call the shots once you are undeniably good at what you do.
You could choose to work remotely for Nigerian brands, or get a hybrid role within the country. You could even choose to diversify and start earning in dollars, which is an even better option considering the current instability of the naira to the dollar. Sounds like a more enticing offer, right?
Fourth option, the part I love the most. You sit back, observe intently and identify problems in the society, create sustainable solutions to those problems and monetize those solutions. You have successfully killed two birds with one stone.
First off, you solved a societal problem and secondly, you are made for life because, you keep earning so long as that problem remains in existence. Agba entrepreneur!
There are many other options of what to do with your life after school. As a matter of fact, the list is inexhaustible. However, what exactly is the bone of contention in today’s post? Listing out the number of possible options for life after school? Certainly not!
Today’s post is all about drawing your consciousness to the fact that, of all the aforementioned options, they all have the same outcome when it comes to maximizing your life after school. However, do not be drawn by the individual benefits of each of these offers rather, acknowledge that each of these options are projects which most definitely, have a maturation time.
The emphasis here is, on identifying that there is an utmost need for self-discovery outside the buzz of being a graduate, and an even pressing need to recognize that these options would not just bud in a day like some French Marigolds.
In my own words, I would say, “Why the rush? Give it time.” However, while doing this, you must maintain that there’s a thin line between giving it time and procrastinating the process. In between the two, you must find a fine balance.
Remember, someone once said, “If you are too scared to stand alone, then you would never be bold enough to form a good line.” See you all at the top, and I’m definitely rooting for you!
Most graduates worry their degree isn’t enough.
Here’s the reality.
When I graduated, I had a degree I was proud of and a passion for the subjects I’d studied.
But when I started reading job descriptions, I realised something:
I didn’t understand most of them.
KPIs? EBITDA? Growth strategy?
None of it felt connected to the hours I’d spent learning about literature, history, or culture.
For a while, I wondered if I’d studied the “wrong thing.”
Looking back now, I know that wasn’t true at all.
This is what I’ve learned since then:
🌻 Jobs are learned, not mastered on day one.
↳ No one starts their first job knowing every tool, system, or process.
↳ Employers value adaptability and a willingness to learn over specific knowledge.
🌻 Your skills are more flexible than you think.
↳ Research, problem-solving, and analysis are valuable in every profession.
↳ Communication, whether through writing or presenting, is a skill that always stands out.
🌻 Learning how to learn is a real skill.
↳ Completing a degree proves you can take on challenges and stick with them.
↳ It shows you can adapt, think creatively, and handle unfamiliar situations.
Your degree might not match every job description perfectly, but that doesn’t make it irrelevant.
The mindset, skills, and ability to adapt that you’ve built are far more valuable than you realise.
What’s one skill you’ve taken from your degree that’s helped you in your career? Let me know in the comments.
I stopped relying on job applications to land roles.
How it usually goes:
You send out hundreds of applications (or worse—you “easy” apply).
You wait.
You refresh your inbox.
Silence.
Oh wait - one response!
Next thing, ghosted.
But what if I told you that you could land jobs without applying?
That’s exactly what happened to me.
I started getting job offers from:
• Big 4 companies
• FinTech firms
• High-growth startups
Not because I had connections.
Not because I had the perfect CV.
But because I had a strong personal brand.
Here’s what most people don’t realise:
You already have a personal brand.
Whether you like it or not, it’s shaping the opportunities (or lack thereof) coming your way.
So, what does a strong personal brand actually look like?
🔹 Being visible where decision-makers are looking.
🔹 Having a digital presence that speaks before you do.
🔹 A reputation that works for you, even offline.
🔹 An optimised LinkedIn profile that showcases your expertise.
🔹 A network of recruiters, hiring managers, and industry leaders.
80% of jobs are never posted online.
They go to people who are seen, known, and trusted.
Want to access them? Build your personal brand:
• Refresh your LinkedIn profile – Highlight your wins and expertise.
• Improve your visibility – Regularly share your journey, successes, and insights to get noticed.
• Sign up on relevant job boards – Create profiles on them to widen your reach.
• Engage with industry leaders and peers – Comment, connect, and share.
• Show up consistently – Position yourself as the go-to expert (or enthusiastic beginner!)
The best opportunities don’t always come from endless applications.
They come from positioning yourself where the right people can find you.
Targeted applications still work, but you can supercharge your success by building a strong personal brand.
This year, don’t just job hunt—attract opportunities.

P.S. Have you ever been hired without applying?

Keeping malice with your spouse takes you both away from God's presence, and you may miss a blessing from God at that moment—unless His mercy chooses to speak!
Malice is like cancer in a marriage.
It weakens the foundation of your marriage.
Malice does not solve problems; instead, it creates emotional distance, breeds resentment, and makes communication difficult.
It only grounds your marriage in negativity and strife.
Keeping malice with your spouse is hurting your children.
Keeping malice with your spouse is hurting your marriage.
Choose peace, communication, and reconciliation instead!
Now, I hate keeping malice with a passion!
