Youth unemployment remains one of Nigeria’s most pressing social and economic challenges. Millions of young people lack access to employable skills, leaving them vulnerable to poverty, social exclusion, and street life. In response, the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), through the Office of the National Youth Animator, proposes a one-week intensive Vocational Skills Training Bootcamp aimed at equipping unemployed youths with practical, income-generating skills.
The project targets 50 unemployed youths drawn from across the country and will be hosted in Abuja. Participants will receive hands-on training in market-relevant skills including shoe making, weavon making, gele tying, barbing, bead works, nail technology, and makeup artistry. The intervention seeks to promote self-reliance, dignity of labour, and social reintegration.
The Registration process begins with indication of interest. call or whatsapp 08189008999 to register your name for subsequent screening.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝
David was a chosen king, victorious in battle, yet his fall began with an unguarded moment. “At the time when kings go out to battle… David remained in Jerusalem” (2 Samuel 11:1). Idleness opened the door, sight ignited desire, and desire matured into sin. Beloved, the first battle to win if we want to succeed is the battle against our flesh.
One careless look at Bathsheba led to deception, abuse of power, and the death of an innocent man. See, temptation often begins quietly, as thought in our head. Men of stardom must learn control their sights and minds. The irony is that we want to control others while we lack control over ourselves. We want to go war against others but not ready to war against our appetites.
The Gospel leaves us with a choice: to live carelessly like David on the rooftop, or to grow faithfully like the mustard seed in God’s field. Guard your eyes, discipline your desires, and trust God. Fall is not inevitable, and growth is not accidental. When we stay watchful and faithful, God turns our small obedience into lasting fruit.
Galatians 5:16 says "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh". 2 Timothy 2:22 adds "So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart". Romans 13:14 reiterates saying, "Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh."
PRAYER
Lord, give us disciplined eyes, humble hearts, and faithful spirits. When temptation calls, grant us the grace to resist. Plant Your Kingdom deep within us, and help us grow in holiness until our lives give You glory. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
2 Samuel 11:1-10, 13-17; Psalm 50; Mark 4:26-34.

NYD JOS 2026: CYON Auchi Diocese Receives the National Youth Day Cross and Marian Icon
As it is customary, and in preparation for the National Youth Day (NYD) 2026, to be hosted by Jos Diocese in August 2026, the movement of the NYD Cross and Marian Icon began on Sunday, 14th September 2025, at Ikot Ekpene Diocese, Calabar Ecclesiastical Province during the Opening Mass of the 2025 Second Plenary of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), held at the Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.
The NYD Cross does not journey alone; it is accompanied by the Icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As St. John Paul II remarked, “It will be a sign of Mary’s motherly presence close to young people who are called, like the Apostle John, to welcome her into their lives.” In this spirit, the Cross and Icon are carried together across the nation, touching hearts and inspiring holiness, in line with the Pontiff’s instruction to “carry it throughout the world as a symbol of Christ’s love for humanity, and announce to everyone that only in the death and resurrection of Christ can we find salvation and redemption.”
Today, CYON Auchi Diocese joyfully received the NYD Cross and Marian Icon from Uromi Diocese. The reception was graced by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, alongside priests of the diocese, who formally received the Cross and Icon and offered prayers and episcopal blessings as the diocese hosts this sacred symbol of faith and youth renewal for the next one week.
As part of activities during the Cross’ stay in our Diocese, CYON will host a Diocesan Praise Night on Friday 30th January, bring together young people across EdoNorth. Thereafter, the NYD Cross and Marian Icon will be handed over to Benin Archdiocese, as the pilgrimage continues to other Ecclesiastical Provinces, in anticipation of NYD Jos 2026.
May every step taken with this Cross renew faith.
May every prayer before it strengthen courage.
May every young person who encounters it discover purpose, direction, and hope. Through Christ our Lord. Amen
For God and for Youth: Through Christ.
