In a dazzling convergence of prestige, influence, and public acclaim, Otunba Akin Akinbobola, Global Chairman of Egbe Atunluse, was crowned with the distinguished Political Icon of the Year Award by African TV Giant—an honour that did not merely recognize a man, but celebrated a movement, a vision, and a legacy in motion.

The ceremony unfolded as a grand tapestry of admiration, further illuminated by the fact that the celebrant himself stood as the Chairman of the Occasion, presiding with the calm authority of a seasoned statesman and the magnetic presence of a people’s champion.

Like a tide drawn by the moon, a mammoth crowd surged into the venue in his honour—leaders of Egbe Atunluse, group leaders, senatorial coordinators, loyal members, political associates, as well as family and friends—each presence a thread in the rich fabric of his influence. Their collective arrival was not just attendance; it was a resounding testament to a leadership that resonates far beyond the ordinary.

As Otunba Akinbobola rose to speak, the hall erupted into a symphony of applause—an electrifying crescendo that seemed to shake the very walls, as though the building itself bore witness to a moment of history. It was not merely an ovation; it was a chorus of affirmation for a man whose footprints are deeply etched in the sands of service.

In his address, he poured out words laced with humility and gratitude, saluting the organisers for orchestrating what he described as an “iconic platform of honour”—a beacon that shines light on excellence and rekindles the flame of purposeful leadership. He urged all present to rally behind such noble initiatives, noting that societies rise when excellence is celebrated and sustained.

With the poise of a visionary and the conviction of a reformer, he turned the discourse toward governance, calling for a rebirth of leadership anchored on good governance—one that listens, serves, and uplifts. He emphasized that governance must not be a distant throne, but a responsive bridge connecting power to the people, where transparency flows like a clear river and accountability stands as an unshakable pillar.

The evening gradually drew to a close, but not without leaving behind echoes of inspiration and a lingering aura of celebration. The honour bestowed upon Otunba Akinbobola stands as more than an award—it is a crown woven from years of dedication, a mirror reflecting impact, and a torch lighting the path for emerging leaders.

EGBE ATUNLUSE INITIATIVES MOVES TOWARD POLITICAL ALIGNMENT AHEAD OF COMING ELECTIONS

The leadership of Egbe Atunluse Initiatives has intensified internal consultations and strategic engagements as part of efforts to consolidate its structure and determine its political direction ahead of the forthcoming general elections. The meeting, which recorded an impressive turnout of State coordinating leaders and leaders of affiliate interest groups, was presided over by the Chairman, Otunba Akin Akinbobola, and coordinated by the Director General, Elder Sikiru Adetona, with several key leaders of the Atunluse movement in attendance.

At the gathering, the leadership emphasized the need for unity, discipline, and strategic positioning as the political landscape begins to take shape across the state and Nigeria.
The meeting also served as a platform for various organized groups within the movement to present their positions on political alignment, reflecting the growing level of consultation and massive grassroot participation within the Egbe Atunluse structure.

In the course of deliberations, the leadership approved a major restructuring of the Akure North Coordinating Unit to strengthen it's grassroot mobilization and operational efficiency. The unit was subdivided into three operational axis. Hon. Kola Lawal will head the Igoba–Iju–Itaogbolu Axis, while Hon. Isaac Olorunyomi (as recommended by Mrs Grace Oba) will oversee the Imafon–Àlà Eléfòshón–Agó Olóbì Axis. Leadership for the Obaile–Ògbèsè–Ilu Ààbò Axis will be decided after further consultations with Mrs Oba, Mr Utache and other leaders from Akure North.

The meeting also approved the appointment of Hon. Odunayo Omosagba a native of Idanre as the new Central Senatorial District Acting Coordinator of Egbe Atunluse Initiatives. This pragmatic decision followed the prolonged absence of the former coordinator, Hon. Moshood, whose long non-attendance at meetings without notice prompted leadership deliberations for a way forward. After a general consensus amongst leaders the chairman consequently approved, Hon. Omosagba as selected to take over the role and will be formally inaugurated at the next state meeting.
The appointment was widely applauded by all members present.

Furthermore, the leadership resolved to place the Southern Senatorial District Coordination under close observation, as part of ongoing internal assessments aimed at ensuring accountability and effective coordination across all districts of the Atunluse movement especially now that the organization is at the juncture of taking some decisive decisions on the way forward.

Robust discussions on Political alignment also featured prominently at the meeting, with all the groups in attendance presenting their position papers suggesting which political direction they desire Ègbê Atunluse Initiatives should ultimately adopt ahead of the forthcoming State and National elections.

Leaders at the meeting reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to grassroots mobilization, strategic consultation, and enlightened political engagement as it continues to expand its influence and prepare its members for the evolving political season in Ondo State and Nigeria.
Further consultation with other groups within the organization continues next Sunday.

As part of our efforts to chart the way forward, Egbe Atunlushe Initiative is set to engage with its leaders and members across the state. This crucial consultation aims to determine the organization's stance and alignment in the upcoming elections.

In line with this,all group leaders are expected to convene meetings with their members to discuss and decide on the party to support. Each leader is required to come up with five members to meet with the Director General, who will facilitate a meeting with the chairman and leadership.

The outcome of these consultations will shape Egbe Atunlushe's strategy and direction for the forthcoming elections. We urge all leaders and members to participate actively in this process and contribute to the decision-making.

The former Special Adviser on Political and Mobilization Matters in the Government of Dr Olusegun Mimiko, and presently the Chairman of Egbé Atunluse Socio/Political Organization, Otunba Akin Akinbobola has advocated that the governor of Ondo state, Hon; Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa should strategize and have a developmental plan that will serve like a developmental roadmap for the advancement of Ondo state, such document which will be like a developmental compass for even governments that will come behind the present government.

Akinbobola, while fielding questions from Journalists in Akure, the state capital over the state of things in the state most especially, that the state is celebrating 50th anniversary of it's creation.

The Chairman of Egbé Atunluse group frowned at the state of development across the state 50 years after it was created, especially when it is compared to what is obtainable in other Southwest and Southeast states that are also 50 years.

" there for a comprehensive developmental arrangement on ground for the state that will be acceptable to all and sundry so that the idea of persons rulling and governing the people with levity will be put to check, and so that government can be evaluated based on the document, presently Ondo state judging by the quantum of funds and God's blessings with mineral resources that is at its disposal ought to have been very much more developed than it is today"

"We need to put in place a blue-print of what the state should be in the next 30 years so that we can move forward faster and with measured steps that will take us to very developed level"

However, on issue of unity, the leader of the group, emphasized that, it is unfortunate that what the founding fathers of the state conceptualized has not been achieved via a vis having a people united for purpose of advancement and growth. He advocated for an all inclusive town hall meetings purposely to unite our people and also drive overall people - centered development.

He further canvased for a conference of stakeholders to cut across every strata of human endeavor, that will brain-storm on SunShine state policy on education, health delivery, economy, infrastructural development, Agricultural development, Sports development, Security architecture, and other aspect of life that can be of greater and immense benefits to the state.

" looking at the ways things are going, the governor needs to call a stakeholders forum devoid of politics, to share knowledge on moving the state forward" Akinbobola said.

The Founder of the Atunluse group also hinted that if the robust human potentials within the state is galvanized outside cut in iron political lines, the vision and mission of the founding fathers which centred on rapid development can be set in motion and can also be achieved within the space of 15 years from now. He praised leaders like Chief Adekunle Ajasin, Chief Adebayo Adefarati, Dr Olusegun Agagu and Dr Olusegun Mimiko who at some point had worked conscienciously and largely contributed to what is on ground today.
Ondo state needs good stadiums that can host national sport events, many more road flyovers in the capital city, smart road networks in major towns and cities across the three senatorial districts, functional and affordable medical facilities, etc.

" I want to say emphatically that, the dreams of our founding fathers for the state have not been met developmentally and Socially, but there's room for this present administration to put in place a foundational legacy that can be built on within 25 to 30 years and we'll get there..." he said.
