*ONDO SUBEB COMMENCES RECRUITMENT OF TEACHERS AS THE PROCESS WILL TARGET RURAL AREAS

In line with Ondo State Government's commitment to fill critical vacancies in its public service, Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board ODSUBEB has commenced the recruitment of qualified teachers into its Public Primary Schools across the rural areas of the State from next week..

The official portal for the recruitment exercise is www.odsgsubeb.org. The exercise will last for five days and it will commence on Tuesday, 2nd April and ends on Saturday, 6th April.2024.

The current exercise is designed by the State Government to fill the gap of inadequacies of teaching staff in the rural areas of the State.

To qualify for a teaching appointment, an applicant must be a Professional Teacher with either NCE ,B.(ED) BA (ED) Bsc (ED) as the case may be

The Executive Chairman of ODSUBEB Rt Hon Victor Olabimtan promised that the process would be a special exercise because it would be based on the needs assessment of each Local Government.

In his words " appointments of teachers under this dispensation would be Community by Community, Local Government by Local Government meaning that the Board would do everything humanly and administratively possible to ensure the new teachers to be recruited stay in their locality for at least five years before requesting for transfer"

"The only way to make the new Teachers stay and teach in their duty post is to ensures native of particular area and Local Government are recruited to teach in their localities, Communities and Local Government" olabimtan noted

The former Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly opined that only citizens of a Local Government Areas like Ilaje, Ese -Odo, Irele and Odigbo would be recruited into the schools in the areas because of the Special nature of these areas

ONDO SUBEB PROMOTES 1200 TEACHERS IN PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOLS

,...urges teachers to justify Government's gestures by being dedicated to duties

Ondo State Government has concluded the 2023 Annual Promotional Interviews for qualified teachers in the Public Primary Schools in the 18 Local Government Areas of the State.

The Executive Chairman of Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board , SUBEB, Rt Hon Victor Olabimtan disclosed this in a chat with the Press after the end of the exercise that took the team under the leadership of Full Time Member, FTM -1 Princess Funmilayo Ademulegun - Brown across the State

According to SUBEB boss, to make the exercise smoothe and less stressful, due to previous experience, the State was divided into five zones. These are Akoko Zone which comprises all the four Local Governments in the areas, Owo Axis is made up of Owo and Ose Local Government Areas while Akure Zone comprises of Akure South and North including Ifedore and Idanre

The remaining Zones are Ondo, made up of Ondo West and East and ile-oluji/oke-igbo while the last zone for the exercise is Okitipupa comprises the four Local Government Areas of the old Okitipupa Division. These are Okitipupa, Ilaje, Ese - Odo and Irele

Speaking on the exercise, Olabintan who said it was hitch free in all the zones added that it was in fulfillment of the present administration's promise under the able leadership of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON, Governor of Ondo State to promote Civil Servants as at and when due.

According to him this is why the Board as an interventionist agency in the basic education sector of the State usually embarked on the exercise as soon its gets approval from the State Government to take the exercise to the teachers in the closet to reduce the stress in embarking on journey coming to the Headquarters for the annual ritual.

Olabimtan opined that unlike other States in Nigeria that promoted Public Servants to the next grade without the financial benefits, Ondo State Government ensure that every Public Servant promoted including teachers gets what they are dues, In spite of the huge financial layout of the exercise and increasing fiscal responsibilities of the State.

He said the Government is ever committed to honour its social contract and electioneering promises to the people especially teachers who are critical stakeholders in the development of the State by ensuring they get the needed impetus to deliver on their mandates

The Chairman who reiterated the avowed resolved of the State Government to continue to promote the welfare of teachers said Ondo State was one of the few States in the Country that promoted Teachers to GL 16, an equivalent of Directorship cadre in the main stream of the Civil Service.

This according to him put them on the same pedestal as their colleagues in the Civil Service and they can aspire to be anything in the system if vacancies exist having acquired University degrees.

The Ondo SUBEB boss who said the Board will release the promotion letters as soon as the Committee concluded its works appealed to the teachers to justify the gesture of the Government by discharging their duties conscientiously.

The 2023 Primary Schools Teachers' Promotion Interview Team was led by FTM-1, Princess Ademulegun -Brown and supported by the Director of Personnel Management Mrs Musa Sherifat and other establishment Staff.

PMG donates books to Ondo State Pupils in Partnership with the Giveback group

The Infrastructural development recorded in Education Sector by the Governor of Ondo State Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN has put Ondo State at the front burner thereby attracting the attention of BOOK For AFRICA, an American Organization that ships books to Africa every year.

Mr Olanrewaju Yusuf Founder and Ayo Olawande, the Associate Representative, Giveback Group who made this known at the Presentation of Varieties of books in conjunction with the Pentagon Movement Group PMG to the Secretary to the State Government ( SSG) Princess Oladunni Odu in her office stated that the official presentation of the books to the pupils in the state was to share the joy of reading and encourage an active reading culture among learners in the country.

" What Arakunrin has been doing in Ondo State particularly in the Education Sector put the State on the map as one if the recipient for the first tranche of books thereby given PMG and Giveback Group credibility in the eyes of the International Donor who was already aware of the giant strides of the Ondo State Governor at revamping the Education Sector in the State.

According to him, the books are the first tranche to be presented and many more are still coming through the efforts of the Pentagon Movement Group. The next step is to go back to the drawing board by the Group, re-strategise to see how much they could do to reach out to different communities in the State.

Olawande further informed that the books are to strengthening the education system in the State.

The State Coordinator of PMG Mr. Lulu Fawehinmi, who lead the team informed the SSG that the PMG in partnership with GiveBack Group were able to attract 2000 varieties of books for the pupils in Primary Schools and Junior Secondary Schools students to assist them in learning process.

Fawehinmi said that the books which is of different varieties like reading, mathematical and computer learning books were giving to the Groups by the international Donor at the backdrop of the wonderful job done by the Governor of Ondo State in the area of Primary School renovations and Infrastructural development in the State.

He also informed the Government team, that PMG has established two (2) innovation Hub in Akure and Ondo town, where they intend to have a mini reading library were students can access other books.

In her response, Princess Oladunni Odu, the Secretary to the State Government of Ondo State ( SSG) stated that she is always delighted to see vibrant young ones giving back to the Society no matter the quantum of what they are given back.

Odu appreciated the leadership of PMG headed by Mr. Babajide Akeredolu and she is actually interested in the groups activities because of the impecable track record saying that the initiator of the Group has been putting in his best possible in whatever little way he could assist the State and helping so much in the area of ICT in particular.

She was of the belief that before any books of this nature could be made available by the Donor abroad goes to show that the group involved are credible with remarkable track records.

While commending the PMG and its partner, the SSG said that the books are useful and would serve as a reference point in the school library.

' For any young ones thinking of giving back to the Society show a level of deep thought and leadership qualities. I know how much efforts and interactions that must have been out in place before the Group could get the books' she said.

She thanked the group most sincerely and assured them that the books are going to be used for the purpose to which the books were donated

She also promised to let the Governor know about the Group's kind gesture to the State.
