Not feeling the famous peppery sensation at the back of your throat?

Before you conclude that your EVOO has changed, there are a few things to consider. Your palate may have adapted, the foods you've recently eaten can affect taste perception, and natural differences between olive harvests can influence pungency.

💡 Remember: Not feeling a strong pepper kick does not automatically mean an olive oil is fake.

Always buy from trusted sources and pay attention to quality, origin, and authenticity.

🌿 Pungency is that slightly peppery feeling when tasting raw extra virgin olive oil.

It comes from natural compounds found in olives and is one of the signs of a fresh olive oil.

Not all olive oils are pungent, and not all need to be. It's simply one of the many flavor characteristics olive oil can have.

Quality is about balance, not just intensity.

A lot of people hear “low acidity” and think olive oil will taste sour or acidic.

It actually has nothing to do with taste.
In olive oil, acidity is a quality measurement. It tells us how well the olives were handled before and during production.

Good extra virgin olive oil should taste fresh, fruity, balanced… not sour.

So when you hear “low acidity,” think quality — not lemon taste 😄

Why does some olive oil have a greenish tinge while some look more golden? 🫒

It can happen because of: 🌿 the olive variety
⏰ harvest timing
🍃 natural plant pigments like chlorophyll
⚙️ the production process

Extra virgin olive oil comes from nature, so slight differences in color are completely normal 🙂

Production of extra virgin olive oil is basically just squashing olives, filtering it, and bottling it. No many many wahala. No chemicals.

Because it’s done on a large production scale, people think it’s some complicated process. It’s really not. 🙂

Did you know? 🫒
Extra virgin olive oil can naturally have tasting notes like:

🌿 Grass
🍅 Green tomatoes
🌰 Nuts
🍏 Green apple
🌿 Herbs

Olive oil tasting is more similar to wine tasting than regular cooking oil 😉

Did you know? 🤍

Some parents traditionally use small amounts of olive oil to help soften cradle cap flakes before gently washing a baby’s scalp.

Gentle care is always key ✨
✔ Use a small amount
✔ Wash off gently afterward
✔ Avoid harsh scrubbing

And if irritation appears, always consult a pediatrician

Whether fruit juice, whether cooking oil… 😄

Olive oil comes from a fruit (olives), which makes it one of the most natural oils you can use.

But we’re not drinking it like juice 😅
We’re using it to cook good food.
