Moments from Week 1 of the Peacebuilders Leadership Internship (PLI 1.0)
Listening to young people share what peace means to them, the challenges they see in their communities, and the kind of change they hope to create was truly inspiring.
One thing that stood out for me is that many young people are willing to lead positive change when given the right platform, guidance, and opportunity.

Yesterday, Our Interns Ominya Initiative explored what peacebuilding truly means beyond the absence of conflict — emphasizing dialogue, justice, inclusion, trust-building, and sustainable solutions within our communities.
The session created space for meaningful conversations around the role of young people as peace leaders and changemakers. Through reflections and interactive discussions, participants shared their understanding of peace and the issues they are passionate about addressing in their communities.
One thing was clear from the session: peacebuilding begins with intentional action, and young people have a critical role to play in shaping peaceful and inclusive societies.
We are excited for the learning, growth, and impact that lies ahead in this journey.

Today marked the beginning of an inspiring journey as we held the Week 1 physical session of the Peacebuilders Leadership Internship (PLI 1.0).
We kicked off with orientation, meaningful conversations on peacebuilding and leadership, and engaging activities that set the tone for the weeks ahead.
It was powerful to see young people already reflecting on their roles as Ominya Initiative Peace Champions and their commitment to building more inclusive and peaceful communities.
Our interns are not just here to learn—they are here to lead, to act, and to become Peace Champions in their communities.
Looking forward to the journey ahead.
