PROSPERITY IS PART OF THE REDEMPTION PACKAGE

“For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich” (2Corinthians 8:9). I have often heard preachers peaching vehemently against financial prosperity on radios and on the internet. However, such people crave to have money more than anything else. Religion has turned them to hypocrites without them knowing. Financial Prosperity is the will of God. Money belongs to God and not the devil (Haggai 2:8). God is the author of wealth. He could not have created wealth without purpose.

One of the reasons why you should be rich as a child of God is because wealth stands as a PROOF OF REDEMPTION. We are born of the Father in heaven into prosperity and not into poverty. There is no controversy on that!

What is Redemption?

Redemption literally means restoration. It is the act of rescuing someone or recovering something by paying a ransom. Biblically, it is the process by which Jesus saved us from the fallen state and from the clutch of satan by shedding His blood on the cross at Calvary. His blood was the price God paid to free us from the stronghold of satan through the power of sin.

Ephesians 2:1-2 says: “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.” Gal 3:13-14 also says, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

You will observe from these two passages among many others in the Bible that the redemptive work of Christ did not only save us from sin but from all the consequences of the curses of the law, which includes all manner of diseases, afflictions, oppressions, poverty, etc. (Deut. 28:15-68). Salvation which is from the Greek word “sozo” encompasses healings, deliverance, forgiveness, restoration, provision, peace. It is a full life that lacks nothing! (John 10:10).

Therefore, the redeemed life is not only a life free of the guilt of sin but also a life where all our needs are met. “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor that ye through his poverty might be rich (2Cor. 8:9). An ignorant religious preacher would say to me, “Man, but the Bible is not talking about material riches but spiritual riches.” Then I would ask him, “That means Jesus was spiritually poor?” God forbid!

Can someone who is spiritually poor open the blind eyes? Can a man who is spiritually poor raise the dead? Jesus said, “They would not have been guilty of sin if I had not done among them the things that no one else ever did…” (John 15:24 GNB).

Jesus was a spiritual dynamo! Therefore, 2 Corinthians 8:9 refers to material prosperity. Jesus became materially poor comparative to Him being the owner of the universe before He became the Son of man to dwell amongst us. This sacrifice was for you to become rich materially! Just as He became sin so that you will become the righteousness of God in Him (2Cor. 5:21), He also became poor so that you will become rich in Him. So beautiful!

Isaiah prophesied and said, “You'll suck the milk of nations, you'll suck the breasts of kings. Then you will realize that I, the LORD, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. But as for you, you will be called priests of the LORD, and you will be named ministers of our God. You will feed on the wealth of the nations, and you will boast about their riches.” (Isaiah 60:16; 61:6 ISV). This is God’s promise to His saints of God in the end time. You will not miss your part in the name of Jesus!

“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32). May this truth set you free from every mental and spiritual bo***ge of poverty forever! As you remain faithful to the covenant terms, you’d eventually enter the realm of surplus, and your account will swell and your substance will multiply into millions, no matter the state of the economy of your nation.

MEMORY VERSE: 2 Corinthians 8:9—“For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor that ye through his poverty might be rich.”

PRAYER: Father, in the name of Jesus, let the full purpose of redemption manifest in my life. Empower me economically to prove my redemption in the kingdom dimension of financial prosperity, in Jesus’ name.
