Why You Should Lock Your SIM Card
Enabling a PIN lock on your SIM card is crucial for protecting your financial and personal information, especially if you use USSD banking services. Here’s why:
1. Prevent Unauthorized Transactions: If your phone is stolen, a thief can remove your SIM card and use it in another device to access USSD banking, SMS OTPs, and bank alerts.
2. Protect Contacts and SMS: SIM cards store sensitive information like contacts and messages. Without a lock, anyone with your SIM has access to this data.
3. Avoid Loan Fraud: Criminals could not only drain your account but also take loans linked to your bank account via USSD.
Note: Your phone lock (password, fingerprint, or face ID) doesn’t secure your SIM card.
How to Lock Your SIM Card
Before starting, ensure you have your SIM’s PUK code. The PUK (Personal Unlocking Key) is needed if you forget your SIM PIN or enter it incorrectly multiple times. It’s usually available on your SIM card pack or from your network provider.
For Android Users:
1. Go to Settings > SIM Manager.
2. Select More SIM Settings > SIM Card Security.
3. Enable Lock SIM Card and input the default SIM PIN.
4. Change the default PIN to one of your choice.
For iPhone Users:
1. Open Settings > Cellular > SIM PIN.
2. Toggle on the SIM PIN feature.
3. Enter the default PIN provided by your network.
4. Change it to a secure PIN.
Default SIM PINs for Nigerian Networks:
• MTN: 00000
• Airtel: 1111
• Glo: 0000
• 9mobile: 0000
Stay Safe! Remember, if you lose access to your SIM, you’ll need the PUK to unlock it. You can retrieve the PUK via your SIM pack or apps like MyMTN for MTN users.
Protect yourself today—don’t wait to learn the hard way!

Why You Should Own a Home Before 45 — Especially in Naija!
They say “life begins at 40”… but landlord begins at 45 — if you’re not smart
Let’s face it, paying rent in Nigeria is like doing yearly charity for someone who already has three houses and doesn’t know your full name!
Imagine this:
• NEPA takes light — you vex.
• Generator off — you vex.
• Landlord says “I dey increase rent” — you start speaking in tongues.
But when it’s your OWN house?
You can paint the walls pink, plant ugwu in the front yard, install solar, and no one can tell you to pack out in December
