Algaita 📷 by .becker - Northwest Nigeria, at the Durbar of the Argungu Fishing Festival. Before the spectacle unfolded, it was the music that greeted me first - a musician playing the algaita, its piercing, soulful notes drifting through the afternoon air. Alongside the steady rhythm of the drums, the sound of the algaita gives the durbar its unmistakable atmosphere, setting the pulse of celebration and weaving tradition into every moment. Colour and sound merge in the golden afternoon light.

At the Durbar of the Argungu Fishing Festival, a group of Tuareg guests with camels from across the border is a reminder that heritage travels. They bring the spirit of the Sahel and desert into the heart of the celebration.
