LIDA Network has successfully completed the 3-Days intensive Media for Peace training as local implementing partners for MiTC, targeted at media practitioners in Kaduna, under the PEACECORE II Project, funded by GIZ.
The training was designed to strengthen the role of journalists in peacebuilding reportage. We explored crucial topics such as Communication for Development (C4D) Media and Information Literacy, Fact Checking, Conflict Sensitivity Reporting for Peacebuilding and tools needed to verify the authenticity of news among others.

Media for Peace | Day 1 Highlights
LIDA Network is facilitating a 5 days training in Kaduna for media practitioners as local implementing partners for Media in Coporation and Transition under the *Peace Corps II Project* on “Strengthening Capacities for Conflict Resolution and Livelihood for Groups in Vulnerable Situations in Nigeria’s Central Zone,” and funded by *GIZ*.
Day 1 focused on *Information Disorder and Hate Speech.This session unpacked the dangers of misinformation and its ripple effects on peace and security in the state. Media professionals who are also part of peace building unions in the state explored practical ways to identify, counter, and prevent the spread of harmful narratives, while strengthening their role as credible voices for truth and peace.
This training marks another step in equipping the media to be proactive agents of conflict resolution and social stability through responsible and credible reporting.

Through this collaboration, we will bring our expertise in development communication, energy landscape and storytelling, to highlight inclusive, data-driven solutions shaping Africa’s green future.
As a first step, we proudly supported the EMERGE EU Project 1st AU–AU Study Visit in Abuja hosted by AfriLabs in July 2025, amplifying the voices of policymakers and Innovators committed to sustainable energy access.

Yesterday, LIDA Network partnered with the United Nations in Nigeria and CODE for the much anticipated Watch Party and Panel Discussion with the theme "A Moment of Opportunity: Supercharging the New Energy Era"
The first of it's kind by the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
We are glad to continue supporting efforts to strengthen energy conversations in Nigeria and beyond.

According to the Renewable Energy Statistics released by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Over 70% of renewable energy capacity growth occurred in Asia, while other regions particularly Africa lagged behind.
