Lagos State has set specific speed limits on major roads, with some examples including 80 km/h on the Third Mainland Bridge and Epe Expressway, and 60 km/h on the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge and Murtala Mohammed International Airport Road.

Other roads like Allen Avenue junction and Ojota Bridge have a 50 km/h limit. Motorists who exceed these limits face a ₦50,000 fine.

Examples of speed limits on specific roads:

80 km/h: Third Mainland Bridge, Alapere Ogudu Road, Epe Expressway

60 km/h: NITEL / Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, Oshodi Apapa Road, Murtala Mohammed International Airport Road, Nurudeen Olowopopo Road, Ikorodu Roads (various locations)

50 km/h: Ojota Bridge (by Motorways), Allen Avenue Road Junction, Ikorodu Road (various locations), Oshodi-Apapa Road.

Fines for violations
Exceeding speed limit: ₦50,000
Running a red light: ₦20,000

Additional information
The state government has implemented Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) sites, including speed detection checkpoints and e-police stations, to monitor and enforce these new regulations, as reported by the Lagos State Government.

These measures are intended to improve road safety and reduce accidents, but some motorists have criticized the strictness of the fines.
