DG DRDB PAYS A WORKING VISIT TO TETFUND
The Director General Defence Research And Development Bureau Rear Admiral KJ Odubanjo mni and principal staff officers of the bureau paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary TETFUND, Arc Sonny S.T. Echono FNIA on Wed 10 Dec 25 in Abuja. The courtesy visit was aimed at fostering collaboration and support for research and development in DRDB. The Director General stated the achievements recorded so far and solicited for more support towards the establishment of defence research and innovation hubs in select tertiary institutions accross the country. He sought for more support to enable research development of prototypes which will assist the country towards solving its problems and by extension contributing its quota to enhancing national security. In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of TETFUND congratulated the Director General on his appointment and expressed confidence in his leadership. Arc. Echono emphasized the critical role that research and development plays in national growth and innovation. He assured the DG that TETFUND remains committed to ensuring that all necessary resources are effectively harnessed to strengthen research activities in the bureau. He further noted that every research initiative from prototype stage to fullscale production will receive the support required to achieve the desired impact. The DRDB visiting team had in its entourage the Director of Maritime Research, R Adm EE Ebe, the Director Land forces Research, Brig Gen NJ Edet and the director Logistics Air Cdre MJ Chidama.

DRDB AND NASRDA COMMIT TO SUSTAINED COLLABORATION
The Director General, Defence Research and Development Bureau, Rear Admiral KJ Odubanjo mni, paid a working visit to the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr Matthew Adepoju, on Fri 5 Dec 25 at the Obasanjo Space Centre in Abuja.
In his remarks, the DG/CEO of NASRDA stressed the importance of integrating GPS systems into military hardware and boots, explaining that the innovation is poised to enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness in the field. He noted that such collaborations are essential in tackling national security challenges, stimulating economic growth and driving overall national development. Rear Admiral KJ Odubanjo mni commended the NASRDA leadership for the prompt response to the courtesy call request and the warm reception accorded to us. He expressed his commitment to driving impactful capacity-building programmes with NASRDA to deepen staff knowledge, sharpen strategic skills and strengthen Nigeria’s defence research and innovation. The DRDB team included the Director of Development and Production, R Adm P Efe-Oghene, Director Special Projects Research, Brig Gen DD Kurmi and the DD Armament, Air Cdre RA Garba.

DRDB AND NDC STRENGTHEN STRATEGIC RESEARCH PARTNERSHIP
On Wednesday 26 November 2025, the Director General of the Defence Research and Development Bureau (DRDB), Rear Admiral Kehinde John Odubanjo mni, led a DRDB delegation on a working visit to the the National Defence College (NDC). He was warmly received by the Commandant, Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed. The visit was a key part of the Bureau’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional ties. It marked a step in ensuring the deepening of collaboration between the DRDB and NDC, with a shared focus on advancing national defence innovation and strategic development. During the meeting, Rear Admiral Odubanjo emphasized the DRDB’s intention to work closely with researchers at the NDC’s Centre for Research and Strategic Studies (CRSS). He noted that enhanced cooperation is essential to bolster research that supports national security and strategic programs. Rear Admiral Ahmed warmly welcomed the DRDB delegation and lauded the initiative. He assured the Director General of the College’s full readiness to provide support in all areas of collaboration, reaffirming the NDC’s commitment to advancing crucial defence research. The Commandant also commended the DRDB for its proactive engagement and reiterated the College’s willingness to partner with the bureau on future research and strategic programs aimed at strengthening the nation’s defence capabilities.
The DRDB delegation included the Director of Maritime Research, R Adm EE Ebe; Director of Land Forces Research, Brig Gen NJ Edet; Director of Logistics, Air Cdre MJ Chidama; Director of Special Projects Research, Brig Gen DD Kurmi; and Assistant Director of Finance, Capt (NN) CG Achugbue.
