Security Chiefs Conduct Joint Operational Assessment, Show of Force Along Ogun–Ondo Border

Security chiefs in Ogun State, alongside the Security Consultant to the State Governor, have carried out a high-level joint operational assessment and show of force across communities along the Ogun–Ondo border corridor as part of efforts to strengthen security and sustain the fight against criminal activities in the state.

The operation, which focused on the Ogun Waterside axis, including Iwopin, Abigi, and Ibiade, was aimed at consolidating the successes recorded under Operation Kosaye and reinforcing ongoing security measures across the border communities.

The assessment team comprised the Security Consultant to the Ogun State Governor, retired Commissioner of Police Edward Ajogun; the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni; the Commander, 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General J.O. Onu; the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Ogun State Command, R.A. Adelakun; the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo; the Commander of the Ogun State Security Network (Amotekun Corps), Brigadier General Alade Adedigba (Rtd.); and the Commander of the So-Safe Corps, Dr Soji Ganzallo.

Also on the tour were the Executive Chairmen of Ijebu East, Ijebu North East, and Ogun Waterside Local Government Areas.

The joint security team traversed strategic communities along the Ijebu Ode–Ore Expressway, beginning from Ijebu Ode through J2, J3, J4, Itele, Atoyo, Agerige, Ogbere, Ibiade, Iwopin, and Abigi before terminating at Ajebandele, the boundary community between Ogun and Ondo states.

During the exercise, the security chiefs conducted a comprehensive assessment of the security situation across the corridor, evaluated existing operational strategies, and reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing inter-agency collaboration to protect lives and property.

The show of force is expected to reassure residents, deter criminal elements, and strengthen security presence along the Ogun–Ondo border, particularly in communities that have recently experienced heightened security concerns.

Breaking: Oyo Police Rescue Two Kidnap Victims, Neutralize Suspected Abductor in Gbonkan Forest Gun Battle

The Oyo State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped victims following a fierce gun battle with suspected armed bandits in the Gbonkan Forest area of the state.

According to security sources, the operation was carried out by a joint security team comprising police operatives and other security agencies, who acted on credible intelligence regarding the activities of the kidnappers.

During the exchange of gunfire, one suspected abductor was neutralized, while several others reportedly fled into the forest with varying degrees of injuries. Two kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unharmed.

Security operatives have since launched an intensive manhunt for the fleeing suspects and are continuing search-and-rescue efforts to locate another victim believed to still be in captivity.

The Oyo State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state, urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security agency.

IPOKIA – The ancient kingdom of Ipokia in Ogun State has been thrown into mourning following the death of its revered traditional ruler, Oba Yisa Sola Adeniyi Olaniyan (Orijajoogun I), the Onipokia of Ipokia Kingdom.

The first-class monarch reportedly passed away in the United States on Saturday after a brief illness, according to palace sources and close associates. Official details surrounding his death were still emerging as of press time.

Oba Olaniyan's passing marks the end of a reign widely celebrated for cultural revival, community development, and efforts to strengthen ties between the kingdom and Nigerians in the diaspora.

The late monarch ascended the throne as the 46th Onipokia of the ancient Ipokia Kingdom in August 2020. Prior to becoming king, he had established a distinguished professional career in the United States, where he studied Criminal Justice at the University of Houston-Downtown and worked in the aviation and oil and gas industries before venturing into renewable energy and community development initiatives.

Widely regarded as a modern traditional ruler, Oba Olaniyan successfully blended global exposure with the rich customs and traditions of his homeland. Throughout his reign, he championed education, youth empowerment, economic investment in Ipokia, and stronger engagement with Nigerians living abroad.

He was also recognized for promoting peace, unity, and development across Yewaland, while advocating for economic growth within the border community.

Beyond his traditional responsibilities, the late monarch was the founder of the Afro-Heritage Broadcasting and Entertainment Awards (AHBEA), an initiative dedicated to celebrating African entertainment personalities and cultural icons around the world.

Friends, associates, and community leaders described him as a visionary, approachable, and generous leader who was deeply committed to preserving Yoruba cultural heritage while embracing innovation and modern development.

His contributions to cultural preservation and community advancement earned national recognition in 2025 when he was inducted into the Nigerian Books of Record Hall of Fame. The institution praised him as a monarch whose leadership exemplified the successful fusion of tradition and contemporary development.

News of his death has continued to attract tributes from traditional rulers, political leaders, community organizations, and indigenes of Ipokia both within Nigeria and across the diaspora. Many have described him as a monarch whose influence extended far beyond the palace, leaving a lasting impact on the growth and development of his people.

The palace is expected to announce funeral arrangements and traditional rites in accordance with the customs and traditions of the ancient Ipokia Kingdom in the coming days.

Oba Yisa Sola Adeniyi Olaniyan is remembered as a progressive monarch whose legacy of service, cultural advocacy, and community development will endure for generations.
