Sugud Forest Reserve offers beautiful scenery with trees surrounding the area. Walking alongside the road early in the morning gives a chance to observe a variety of lowland birds. One can observe raptor high in the sky flying past the ridge, bulbuls, white-eye, nuthatch and others.
Just about 1 hour walk down the hill, there is a waterfall where locals visit during holidays to spend the day.
Sugud Forest Reserve is one of the places one can spend searching for forest birds within the Greater Kota Kinabalu area. Just spend two hours walking along the road can produce some bird species to add to your bird list.

Car rental for September 2022 at Sandakan. Type of car is Dmax Isuzu. Can fit in maximum 4 passengers.
Day trip rental rate is RM250 with driver. Driving around Sandakan town, Sepilok, Labuk Bay, Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day trip rental rate to Kinabatangan River and return is RM450 with driver. Travel 140km to Kinabatangan to do the river cruise before returning to Sandakan on the aame day.
