Dayosizi ya mpingo wa Katolika ya Zomba yati ndiyozipereka pofuna kupititsa patsogolo ntchito za maphunziro.

Episkopi wa Dayosizi-yi, Ambuye Alfred Mateyu Chaima, anena izi pomwe amakumana ndi akulu-akulu a sukulu ya pulaimare ya St. Joseph ku Zomba omwe amawafotokozera Ambuye Chaima momwe zokonzekera ntchito yomanga zimbuzi pa sukulu-yi zikuyendera.

Ambuye Chaima anawuza akulu-akuluwa kuti ngati Dayosizi, amazindikira bwino za udindo wawo potengapo mbali pa ntchito zosiyana-siyana zomwe zimachitika m’ma sukulu ake ngati mbali imodzi yotukulira maphunziro mu Dayosizi ya Zomba komanso mdziko lino.

Pamenepa, Ambuye Chaima apempha anthu akufuna kwabwino kuti athandizepo kaamba koti ntchito-yi ikufuna ndalama zambiri.

Polankhulapo pa mkumanowu, mphunzitsi wamkulu pa sukulu-yi, sister Ruth Kamwendo, anayamikira Dayosizi ya Zomba kaamba kothandizapo pa ntchito-yi. Iwo anathokozanso magulu ena omwe apereka kale thandizo lawo, kuphatikizapo ophunzira akale a pa sukulu-yi.

Pa mwambo-wu, Dayosizi ya Zomba yapereka ndalama zokwana 2 miliyoni kwacha yoti ithandizire kumanga zimbuzi pa sukulu-yi zomwe zinagwa kaamba ka mvula ya mphamvu.

The Director of Zomba Mental Hospital, Dr. Raphael Piringu, has advised members of the Catholic Men Association (CMA) to take care of their mental health by avoiding isolation, talking to trusted friends and practicing meditation.

He shared this message during celebrations of St. Joseph the Worker on May 1, 2026, at Namitembo Parish in Zomba Diocese.

Dr. Piringu said many men in Malawi are facing serious mental health problems, but often suffer in silence. He explained that 19% of men report mental health challenges compared to 17% of women.

He however added that the biggest concern is su***de as out of 281 su***de cases recorded in the first half of 2024, 246 cases involved men.

“At Zomba Mental Hospital, we have more than 450 patients, yet the hospital can only hold 400. About 65% of the patients are men,” he said. He also added that many of these cases are linked to drug and alcohol abuse.

Dr. Piringu suggested that health workers should raise awareness in places like churches, mosques, markets and schools to help people understand mental health better and seek help early.
