In its modernization drive, Malawi has today officially launched the Companies Registrations and Intellectual Property Center (CRIPC), a new statutory corporation established on 1 April 2026. The event took place at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) and was presided over by Chief Secretary to Government, Dr Justin Saidi, the Honorable Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Charles Mhango, and the Chief Justice, Rezine Mzikamanda, among other dignitaries.

Following amendments to the Business Registration Act, the functions of the Department of the Registrar General, initially embedded in the Ministry of Justice, have been moved to CRIPC.
