Under the Progressive Peace Building and Conflict Prevention among Women and Girls in Thyolo Communities project, CCDO engaged political party leaders, peace structures and other key stakeholders in promoting peace and conflict prevention within communities.

The initiative is being implemented with support from the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund through UN Women.

The interface meetings are providing a platform for dialogue on conflict resolution, community peacebuilding and the meaningful participation of women in political leadership structures.

The engagements are also strengthening collective efforts to address gender-based violence (GBV) risks affecting women and girls during political processes and community interactions.

Between 2024 and April 2026, Women and Girls’ Clubs and APUCs in five TAs—Bvumbwe, Changata, Nchiramwela, Maganiza and Maggie, resolved 203 GBV cases, with domestic violence (82 cases) being the most prevalent.

At the start of the project, CCDO strengthened the community response by building the capacity of 97 girls from five clubs, 30 women group members and 55 APUC representatives in mediation, advocacy, peacebuilding, conflict management and leadership.
