Maldives Independence Day Date: July 26 1965

The island came under the Protectorate of British in 1887. The island and the British agreed on an agreement in which the British agreed that they will not interfere in the internal matter of the island but where the foreign exchange was considered then British are to be involved. In return to this the British assured the island for its protection and security from the colonial invasion. And finally on July 26 Maldives got its Independence and today we celebrate our 50th ..
