The 15th World Halal Business Conference (WHBC) 2023 opened in London under the theme “Halal Opportunities in a Borderless World.” Hosted by Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and organised by the Halal Development Corporation (HDC), the event positioned Malaysia as a global leader in shaping the future of the halal economy.

OTOKI Corporation has launched its halal-certified JIN RAMEN in Indonesia, marking its full-scale entry into the world’s second-largest instant noodle market. The company secured halal certification from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) in December 2024 and finalized import licensing in August 2025.

Once considered niche, Halal Investing is now attracting broader investor interest beyond faith-based origins. According to Sameer Azam, Portfolio Manager at RBC, the approach’s ethical and sustainable principles are driving appeal among both Muslim and non-Muslim investors seeking long-term, values-driven portfolios.
