Dear students, many of Indian universities do not consider GED as grade 12 equivalent!The reason is to be eligible for bachelor's degree students must have learnt Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as separate subjects covering most importantly 'CALCULUS', 'TRIGONOMETRY' and other various topics which could be the foundation for engineering and medical fields in their grade 12.

ALSO if you are an engineering aspirant, you cannot learn engineering without the knowledge of 'CALCULUS' or even in some areas of the medical field, basic knowledge of 'CALCULUS' is required.
GED, in general is useful only when your interest area is pursuing 'SOCIAL STUDIES' AND HUMANTARIES degrees.

IN CONCLUSION, my honest suggestion is if you are a grade 10 student who wishes to go abroad for higher studies, NOT SPECIFICALLY ONLY INDIA,
prepare for IGCSE A because IGCSE A meets all the standards of foreign universities globally.
