Next week I’m heading to France and in a moment of confidence, decided to start knitting this pair of mittens. I thought it would be easy enough to do without constantly checking the pattern… yeah, turns out I was a bit too optimistic 🤪

I already feel sorry for the person sitting next to me on the plane, because my tiny seat area will probably end up looking a lot like my creative chaos at home 🧶✈️

There are two kinds of knitters: the “I’ll knit the inside edge as I go” people… and the “I’ll sew it on later” people 😊

Guess which one I am 🙈🤪

I love having a little Plan B - it means I can always come back and make the inside of the mitten extra special when inspiration hits 🩷

In December, when I was sitting with Maria from and we were talking about Latvian mittens, she asked me whether Latvians actually wear mittens themselves because while she was in Riga she hadn’t noticed many. That question inspired me, when meeting strangers on the street to photograph their mittens so I could show you that Latvians not only love knitting them, but also love wearing them 😊
