New Boskalis fallpipe vessel "Seapiper" 👀

Seabed Intervention business unit and various other business units worked together in Singapore on the conversion of the semi-submersible transport vessel into the state-of-the-art fallpipe vessel Seapiper in the past nine months.

Seapiper can carry a total of 15,000 tons of rock were installed on the former transport vessel.

Fallpipe vessels are often deployed to protect cables and pipelines on the seabed with rocks, to prepare the seabed for the installation of wind turbine foundations.

World’s First Fully Remote Offshore Wind Farm Inspection

Fugro has completed what is said to be the world’s first fully remote ROV inspection of an offshore wind farm using its Blue Essence uncrewed surface vessel (USV).

The eROV, which was remotely launched and recovered from Fugro’s remote operations center (ROC) in Aberdeen, delivered a number of inspections on the structure of the wind turbines to assess their stability and safety.

Fugro says that its Blue Essence can remain at sea for two weeks executing inspection activities without refuelling, this cuts carbon emissions by 95 % when compared to conventional ROV support vessels.
