Unpaid and Unheard: River Gee Players Still Waiting After County Meet

Athletes from River Gee County are reportedly still waiting for their allowances following the recent county meet, despite being promised full payment by February 15.

So far, they say they have only been paid for three games, leaving many frustrated and disappointed.

The delay has raised concerns about fairness and accountability toward the players who represented the county. With the promised deadline now passed, the athletes are calling on officials to urgently address the issue and settle their outstanding payments.

Quick Update 🚨

A quick lesson regarding the reported protest filed by Rivergee County against Grand Cape Mount following their painful 1-0 defeat on Saturday in match day one of the new County Meet Quarterfinals format at the SKD.

Yes — it will affect that player, unless the red card was formally overturned or the match was declared null and void by the competition authority.

Let me break it down clearly using your exact situation 👇

What happened (key facts)
Match played → Team A won 3–1
During that match → Player from Team B (losing team) received a red card
Team B protested → Illegal player used by Team A

Protest upheld → Team B awarded 3 points and 2 goals

The red-carded player played in the very next match

Opponent in that next match filed a protest
The core rule principle

👉 A red card suspension applies immediately after the match in which it was received, unless:
The red card is successfully appealed, or
The match is officially ruled null and void with disciplinary sanctions annulled

Awarding points/goals does NOT automatically cancel disciplinary sanctions.
Applying the rule to your case

1. Does the red card still stand?
✅ YES, it stands because:
The protest ruling addressed eligibility of an illegal player

The ruling did not overturn the red card
The match was not declared null and void

👉 Therefore, the player was suspended for at least the next match.

2. Was the player eligible to play the next match?
❌ NO, the player was ineligible.
He should have:
Served the red card suspension before playing again

3. Is the second protest valid?
✅ YES, the second protest is valid.
Because:
The player participated while under suspension
This is a fielding an ineligible player offense
Likely consequences

Depending on the competition regulations, the disciplinary body may:
Award the match to the protesting team
Deduct points from the offending team
Extend the player’s suspension
Possibly fine the team
Very important clarification

Superintendent Swengbe Leads Stakeholders’ Meeting to Combat Drug Threat in River Gee

By Prince D. Copeland | River Gee Correspondent.

Fish Town, River Gee County- Superintendent Mike T. Swengbe on Friday convened a strategic stakeholders’ engagement meeting at the Administrative Building in Fish Town, aimed at confronting the growing threat of illegal drug use and trafficking across River Gee County.

The meeting brought together key representatives from the Joint Security, civil society, traditional authorities, youth and women’s groups, as well as the education and health sectors. The forum focused on building strong partnerships and outlining community-led solutions to tackle narcotics and protect the county’s future generation.
During discussions, some concerned citizens suggested that all illegal drugs confiscated by authorities should be buried immediately, rather than stored, to avoid the risk of them returning to the streets. Superintendent Swengbe welcomed the recommendations and emphasized: “The fight against drugs cannot be left to government alone. It demands the full involvement of every citizen, every leader, and every institution.” Stakeholders applauded the effort and pledged their continued support in combating the drug crisis.
