Week of the Young Child Kicks Off in Gbarnga, B**g County

The Ministry of Education has officially launched activities for the Week of the Young Child in Gbarnga, B**g County, under the theme: “Strengthening Families, Educators, and Communities for Every Child’s Future in Liberia.”

Through its Bureau of Early Childhood Education, the Ministry began the celebration with community outreach, media engagement, and awareness activities highlighting the importance of early learning.

Assistant Minister Hon. Fasam Howard Nyensuah led engagements with parents and community members, emphasizing timely school enrollment and the need for strong early foundations.

The day featured play-based learning activities, with children from over 20 schools participating in interactive sessions that promote creativity and development.

MoE and LTA Launch “School Connect” Initiative to Advance Digital Learning Nationwide

The Ministry of Education (MoE), in partnership with the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), has officially launched the School Connect Initiative, a major step toward expanding digital learning and high-speed internet access across 156 public schools in Liberia.

The initiative will be implemented in phases, with the goal of connecting all targeted schools nationwide. It aims to improve students’ research capabilities and strengthen school administration through reliable internet and modern digital tools.

Delivering the keynote address visually, Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah emphasized the urgency of digital inclusion, noting that access to information is critical to national development. She described the initiative as a transformative opportunity for students and educators, supported by advanced micro-lab technologies.

The Minister also stressed the importance of responsible usage and proper management of the systems, while reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to continuous training for teachers and administrators.

LTA Chairman Honorable Clarence Massaquoi described the launch as a significant milestone, highlighting that the initiative aligns with the government’s vision to modernize education through technology. He noted that the first phase lays the foundation for nationwide connectivity and expanded access to digital resources.

The launch event was held at the Booker Washington Institute in Kakata, Margibi County, and brought together government officials and development partners, including representatives from the United States Embassy, UNDP, and Starlink.

The School Connect Initiative marks a major step toward inclusive, technology-driven education in Liberia.

Montserrado County Education Officer Announces Strengthened Supervision and Compliance Measures for Schools

Monrovia, Liberia

— The County Education Officer (CEO) of Montserrado County, Mr. Amos Kinni Kanrneh, has announced the implementation of rigorous measures aimed at strengthening supervision, monitoring, and evaluation across all schools within Montserrado County.

According to Mr. Kanrneh, these measures are designed to ensure that all public and private schools strictly adhere to the Ministry of Education’s policies, regulations, and guidelines, and are in full compliance with the 2025/2026 Academic Calendar. He emphasized that adherence to established standards is critical to maintaining quality, accountability, and consistency within Liberia’s education system.

Mr. Kanrneh further noted that his office is intensifying oversight efforts following his participation in several high-level capacity-building and planning initiatives. These include the Ministry of Education Joint Education Sector Review (JESR), and the ongoing County Operational Planning sessions, which are currently taking place concurrently.

Speaking to reporters in Monrovia, the Montserrado County Education Officer commended the current leadership of the Ministry of Education, under the direct supervision of the Minister, Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah. He described the leadership as passionate, committed, and resolute in its determination to transform the education sector and improve learning outcomes nationwide.

Mr. Kanrneh also expressed appreciation to the Government of Liberia and the Senior Management Team of the Ministry of Education for their continued support. He reaffirmed his office’s commitment to working collaboratively with the Ministry’s leadership to ensure the effective implementation of key priorities and the advancement of quality education across Montserrado County.

MOE, Partners Convene National Stakeholders’ Validation Workshop on Girls’ Education Policy Analysis and Scorecard Review

Monrovia, Liberia
December 3, 2025

The Ministry of Education, in partnership with HOPE Inc., the EducateHER Coalition, and Impact Evaluation, today convened a one-day Stakeholders’ Validation Workshop focused on the National Policy on Girls’ Education (NPGE) Data Analysis, Scorecard Review, and Validation Session for the period 2021–2025.

The workshop brought together MOE technical divisions, county education teams, and development partners to jointly review the findings of the NPGE indicator analysis.

The session provided a shared technical and participatory platform for stakeholders to examine data, validate interpretations, and endorse final recommendations.

This collaborative effort strengthens national mechanisms for monitoring, reporting, and implementing the National Policy on Girls’ Education, while reinforcing alignment with Liberia’s education sector priorities and the Government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.

Key objectives of the workshop included:

* Reviewing, discussing, and validating the full NPGE analysis (2021–2025)

* Receiving orientation on the NPGE Scorecard, including status interpretation, RAG ratings, and trend indicators

* Providing input on the design and priority features of the NPGE Dashboard

* Co-developing implementation priorities informed by evidence from the analysis

* Offering feedback to finalize NPGE monitoring tools, including the scorecard, dashboard, and narrative report
