සුභ අලුත් අවුරුද්දක් වේවා !
We wish you a very happy Sinhala and Tamil New Year!
Don’t let the new year get off to a bad start! Keep safety in mind to ensure you, your family and your friends have an accident-free New Year celebration!
Don't forget to share with others !!!!!
Accordingly, the members of the public have been urged to celebrate the festival and to observe the traditions and rituals at home.
They have been requested to stay home during the inauspicious time (Punya Kaalaya/Nonagathaya) as much as possible. When visiting religious places during inauspicious time, people are required to follow health and safety precautions in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Further, health authorities have appealed to the public to minimize visiting relatives’ places, exchanging confectioneries with neighbours as well as conducting outdoor Avurudu games and festivals which gather large numbers of individuals.
Drink Responsibly
If you’re planning to drink, do not drive. Don’t let your drinking friends drive, either. Instead, choose a designated driver, hire a taxi, take public transportation or invite everyone to crash in your living room.
Go easy on the alcohol, too. Pacing yourself prevents alcohol poisoning and ensures you can pay attention to your surroundings as you act smart and stay safe.
KEEPING YOUR FIREWORKS HAZARD-FREE
If you’re going to be breaking out the firecrackers in honor of the new year, it is especially important to keep the safety on the top of your list!
Fireworks can spell trouble for furry friends. If your pet gets spooked at the sound of fireworks, make sure they’re contained in a safe, secure area where they can’t try to run away. This also ensures they won’t break or cause damage to valuables in your home or to themselves.
Keep a fire extinguisher handy to prevent a mishap from spiraling out of control.
