🚆🇱🇰 23 Days After Disaster — Kandyan Menike Returns on the Badulla–Ambewela Route! 🌄✨

Just 23 days after the “Ditwa” disaster, a special Kandyan Menike train service is operating today between Badulla and Ambewela, marking an important step in restoring the hill country railway line.

With the goal of rebuilding the severely damaged Badulla–Ambewela section and strengthening the Kandyan Railway line—one of the backbones of Sri Lanka’s tourism sector—this special service (SPL 1016) is being operated using S14 class power sets.

The effort brings together Sri Lanka Railways and its dedicated staff, the National Building Research Organization (NBRO), voluntary organizations, and political authorities, showcasing strong collective commitment to recovery and resilience.

📍 The special train departs Badulla at 10.00 AM, while the return journey from Ambewela to Badulla commenced at 9.30 AM.
