Sri Lanka is a country rich in culture. Boasting of a history dating back more than 2 millennia, the island of Sri Lanka has had as many as 9 kingdoms dating back to 543BC almost all of which have been preserved as archeological sites. Although the Sri Lankan kingdoms ceased to exist in 1815 after the country was conquered by the British, the cultural heritage of those kingdoms and monarchs who ruled those kingdoms are still seen today.
