Thank you to everyone who journeyed with us over the past two years to bring period poverty and menstrual hygiene into the public spotlight. We have been able to implement practical solutions to address these challenges head-on.

Together, we created impact, raised voices, and celebrated change!

PERIOD PROUD Kite Festival!

Held on International Menstrual Hygiene Day (May 28), the Period Proud Kite Festival was more than just a celebration, it was a powerful finale to the Collective Action Against Period Poverty (CAAPP) project.

This inspiring journey, made possible through a groundbreaking partnership with the Embassy of France in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, brought much-needed attention, resources, and compassion to an issue too often overlooked.

Hereโ€™s a little throwback to a day filled with hope, pride, and kites that carried our message high into the sky. ๐Ÿชโค๏ธ

We successfully conducted the Period Proud 2025 Research Launch yesterday (27th of May, 2025), graced by the presence of Honourable Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya Harini Amarasuriya and *His Excellency Rรฉmi Lambert, Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and the Maldives*.

This event marked the launch of four key research studies conducted by our partner NGOs as part of the Collective Action Against Period Poverty (CAAPP) project. The studies launched included:

Centre for Poverty Analysis (CEPA) and Shanthi Margam: A study on Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices of Menstrual Hygiene in selected communities in Colombo and Kandy.

Human Development Organization (HDO) Kandy: Research on Menstrual Health and Hygiene Issues among women in plantation communities in Kandy and Nuwara Eliya.

Rural Economic and Community Development Organization (RECDO): A study on Menstrual Health, Cultural Influences, and Institutional Practices among Muslim girls in Trincomalee.

We also launched โ€œPeriod Proud โ€“ Stories from the Frontline of Changeโ€, a publication documenting the pre-CAAPP landscape and the coordinated response over the two-year project period, compiled by the FPA CAAPP project team.

The event was attended by a wide range of participants, including representatives from government institutions, international organizations, INGOs, NGOs, civil society organizations, and social activists.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this event and stood with us in this collective effort.
