What has happened last night in Mirihana is just a "sneak peak" into what will happen to Sri Lanka in the next few months.

Already the food distribution networks have been distrupted. Number of trucks which transport food from producing areas to where the demand is reduced by over 50%.

This reason created an artificial over production in producing areas, driving farmer price below cost of production, and an artificially increase in the cost of goods in the urban and metropolitan areas.

Also the very high agricture input costs, not being able to sell produce, lower than cost of production prices combined will have unimaginable compounded negative effect in the Agri value chains and in our Sri Lankan food system. Food security is at serious risk for those who live in urban areas.

Let's not wait for it to come to that and let's act today and let's start to plant at least few essential items which we can grow easily at your home.
