The SkillUp Sri Lanka – Modern Career Guidance and Skill Development Awareness Program was successfully held on 18th May 2026 at Muslim Balika Maha Vidyalaya - Kaluthara, with a strong focus on STEM education and future skill development.
The session inspired students to explore their strengths, align their passions with future career goals, and make informed decisions that match the evolving demands of today’s technology-driven job market.
The program was conducted by Mr. Dian Baduge, Director of the Future Lanka Research & Development Foundation (FLRDF), who highlighted the importance of staying updated on global career trends, industry developments, and essential future-ready skill sets. Adding practical insight, Dr. Nicoloy Gurusinghe, Head of the Department of Electrical & Electronics at Sri Lanka Technology Campus, shared engaging case studies from their respective fields, emphasizing the importance of understanding emerging career opportunities across diverse sectors.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Principal, Vice Principal, A/L Sectional Head, and dedicated teachers at Muslim Balika Maha Vidyalaya - Kaluthara, for their invaluable support in organizing this impactful session.
SkillUp Sri Lanka is an initiative by the Future Lanka Research & Development Foundation (FLRDF), in collaboration with the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, together with the Department of Manpower and Employment. The program is committed to empowering youth with future-ready skills and bridging the education-to-employment gap in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The SkillUp Sri Lanka – Modern Career Guidance and Skill Development Awareness Program was successfully held on 12th May 2026 at St. Benedict’s Convent, Colombo 13, engaging students who recently completed their O/L examinations as they prepared to transition into A/L studies.
The session empowered students to identify their strengths, align their passions with suitable A/L subject streams, and approach their academic journey strategically with a clear vision for their future careers. Special emphasis was placed on making informed decisions in line with the rapidly evolving, technology-driven global job market.
The program was conducted by Mr. Dian Baduge, Director of the Future Lanka Research & Development Foundation, who highlighted the importance of staying updated on global career trends, industry developments, and essential future-ready skills.
The session was further enriched by an esteemed panel of resource persons, including Mr. Krishnadeva Kesavan, Lecturer and Head of the Department of Cyber Security at APIIT, and Mr. Lahiru Karunarathna, Finance Director of Innovative X Labs (Pvt) Ltd. Through engaging discussions and real-world case studies, they provided students with valuable insights into emerging career opportunities across diverse sectors.
