Project Selva Nadhanam 🌍🚨

A network fail-safe Emergency SOS prototype
During recent disasters in Sri Lanka, many people suffered because mobile networks collapsed. We kept thinking if reliable communication had existed, even one life could have been reached faster.
That single thought motivated me to build Selva Nadhanam.
This is a prototype emergency SOS system designed to keep working until the message reaches rescue teams, even when normal mobile networks fail.

🔹 Core idea

An SOS should not depend on one network.
It should keep trying, using multiple fallback paths, until help receives it and once delivered, the sender is notified to reduce panic.

🔹 Key capabilities

• Works without internet and without SIM, depending on availability
• Uses 10 layered communication paths (multi-technology fallback)
• Opportunistic delivery via nearby devices & relays
• Offline-first: SOS is queued and never lost
• Retries automatically until received by rescue teams
• Sender receives confirmation once delivered
• AI-assisted deduplication at rescue dashboard (using mobile/device ID)
• Government broadcast alerts supported (receive-only layer)

🔹 Why this matters

Disasters don’t wait for signal bars.
Networks fail when they are needed the most.
If this system can help even one person reach help faster during a disaster, then the effort is worth it.

🔹 Built as a prototype

• Flutter (mobile) + Django (backend)
• Focused on resilience, not convenience
This is not a replacement for existing emergency systems
it is an additional safety layer for the worst-case moments.
