V. REPORT ON TOMATO/
FERTILIZER FROM BANANA
COMPOST PEEL TRIAL.

1. SUMMARY.
In this preliminary trial of growing tomatoes using banana peel as a fertilizer (organic type), showed increase harvesting of tomato fruits, over those other plants where fertilizer was not used. Trial was in a backyard, and time of trial was between October 2021 – March 2022.
Further trials are needed, before a more definitive statement, can be made about the use of banana peel, and tomato growing.

LITERATURE REVIEW.
The review of literature, shows the Following.

organic fertilizers non manufactured types are naturally occurring, good for soil fertility, and slow releasing to plants.These are useful in small areas of agriculture production.

ENVIRONMENT.
(SEC 6.7-6.9) BIBLIOGRAPHY. Records that natural organic fertilizers, Releases less climate change gases, than manufactured types. Hence are preferred in small areas of agriculture production as to manufactured types.

2. OBJECTIVE.
2.1 To use an organic fertilizer to grow tomatoes in the backyard . The literature Informs to the advantages of Organic fertilizers as compared to manufactured Fertilizers.
2.2 To compare Fruiting of fertilized vs non Fertilized plants.

3. METHODOLOGY.

3.1 Plants.
Ten tomato plants were
Used, 5 were treated, and
5 untreated. Treated plants were coded, T(2) and untreated plants (T1).
3.2 Variety.
Big red.
3.3 Location.
Trial was in a backyard in
Careffe, Gros Islet.
3.4 Planting.
Plants were planted around
October 15, 2021, and at a
Spacing of 1 meter apart.
All plants were randomly
Planted, with treated plants Labelled with red ribbons.
3.5 Fertilizer.
Five plants were treated with
Composted banana peel, placed directly in the hole at
Planting. Five were planted with no composted banana
Peel. Each treated plant
Received about 2-3 gms of composted banana peel. Fruits from treated, and untreated trees were statistically analysed.

4. RESULTS.
The data on total no. of fruits
Harvested, are shown in table below.

Used for indoor plants.
Solid Type.
Used for out door plants.
Fertilizers used in backyard
gardening.

The composted fertilizer from the banana peel was used in a tomato trial. Results of such a trial will be posted later.
