On November 17, 2023, the Project Steering Committee (PSC) convened with representatives from the implementing agencies MFMRD, MFED, MLIPD, KFSU and the Office of the Attorney General. The purpose was to provide a comprehensive update on the PROP Project's stakeholder engagement, discussing progress and sharing information about both ongoing and planned activities.

Background:
The World Bank is financing the Pacific Islands Regional Oceanscape Program (PROP) across multiple Pacific Island countries, including Kiribati. The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Development (MFMRD) of Kiribati is leading a 6-year project to enhance fisheries management and seafood safety.

Project Components:
πŸ”΅ Enhancing the Value of Large-Scale Oceanic Fisheries
πŸ”΅ Diversifying Marine-Based Revenue Streams for Coastal Communities
πŸ”΅ Improving Seafood Toxicology and Safety Measures
πŸ”΅ Delivering Effective Project Management

Opportunity:
Due to limited land assets, Kiribati is planning to consolidate the MFMRD infrastructure into a multi-story office complex in the Ambo area.

We are seeking expressions of interest from qualified consulting firms for two assignments:

1️⃣ Detailed Engineering Design: Develop detailed engineering plans and specifications for the MFMRD complex, MCS Center, Seafood Toxicology, and coastal research laboratories.

2️⃣ Construction Supervision: The consultant may be invited to take on the role of "Project Manager" following the successful design phase.

Objectives:
The consultancy will involve:

πŸ“… Construction Schedule Analysis
πŸ“ Tender Document Organization

Staffing:
We estimate the need for 16 staff-months, including experts in architecture, engineering, and environmental management. The detailed design is expected to be completed within 6 months.
