I had the pleasure of gracing the training and selection of teams that will represent Nakuru County at the 11th Edition of the Kenya Youth Inter-County Sports Association (KYISA) Games set for April 10th–19th, 2026 in Nyahururu, Laikipia County. The selection of our Under-23 (18–23) basketball and football teams is now underway, with talent search trials ongoing across the county as young athletes showcase their skills ahead of the tournament. Building on last year’s strong performance that saw Nakuru emerge champions in basketball and runners-up in football, we remain confident in our team’s potential.

Under the steadfast leadership of Governor Susan Kihika, the County continues to invest in nurturing youth talent. I encouraged the teams to train hard, stay disciplined, and give their all so that they can lift trophies for Nakuru County.

A major collaboration between the County Government of Nakuru and the Women Enterprise Fund (WEF) is set to unlock low-interest financing for women-led groups across the county. This agreement marks a significant step toward advancing financial inclusion and strengthening economic empowerment at the grassroots level.

Today, I had the honor of representing the County Government, under the leadership of H.E. Susan Kihika, in the signing of this landmark partnership. The initiative will go a long way in reinforcing the Governor’s steadfast commitment to delivering on her manifesto pledge of supporting inclusive economic growth and uplifting women-led enterprises.

I was joined by County Secretary Samuel Mwaura, County Attorney Caleb Nyamwange, and Chief Officer for Gender Gladys Kamuren, alongside representatives from WEF.

I spearheaded the election of the persons with Disabilities (PWDs) County Fund Comittee, setting the stage for raising awareness on disability issues, especially the rights of PWDs and to help raise funds from donors, supporters, among others.

Isaac Kairu Mwangi and Lucy Chepkemboi are duly elected as Chair and Vice chair respectively to persons with Disabilities (PWDs) County Fund Comittee.

I implored the Comittee to fastruck the regulations to help implement the fund. They however thanked H.E Governor Susan Kihika for her visionary leadership in supporting the PWDs.

I was accompanied by Selina Nkatha (Director of Social Services) who was also elected the secretary to the Comittee and Joel Bii (County Social Service Development Officer).

In the company of my fellow CECM Ngugi Wambui Zippy, today I accompanied Nakuru County Deputy Governor H.E. Hon. David Kones to Elburgon, Molo Sub-County, during the launch of a mass distribution of mobility assistive devices to Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs), benefiting over 500 residents.

The Deputy Governor reaffirmed the County Government’s commitment to disability inclusion, while as a department, we fully support and stand behind the County’s initiatives. This financial year, Ksh 27.5 million has been set aside to support persons living with disabilities, with a focus on assistive devices and direct interventions that restore dignity and promote independence.

Under the leadership of H.E. Governor Susan Kihika, Nakuru County continues to advance people-centered and inclusive development.

I had the privilege of accompanying H.E. Governor Susan Kihika for lunch at Akinyi’s Eatery, celebrating resilience and the indomitable spirit of small traders. In a practical show of support, the County Government waived Akinyi’s business license fees for a full year, underscoring Governor Kihika’s commitment to protecting livelihoods and making it easier for hardworking Nakuru residents to do business.

Today, I joined Kenyans in standing in solidarity with Huriet Akinyi, a Nakuru-based food vendor, and announced that the Nakuru County Government under H.E. Governor Susan Kihika will pay her business license for the entire year.

Akinyi’s story reflects the everyday struggles of many young entrepreneurs and underscores the power of social media as a tool for economic empowerment when used positively.

I called on youths across the County to leverage digital platforms to grow their businesses and take advantage of County programs such as the Wezesha Fund, alongside national initiatives like NYOTA.

Her resilience is a lesson to every young entrepreneur: stay visible, stay consistent, and never give up.
