A degree can slow you down if you don’t know where you’re going. During a conversation with Mwatha Njoroge from Daring Achievers Network, he said something that hit deep:

“I’m a PhD student—but I’ve come to accept that education was designed to slow people down.”

Now read that again.

It’s not that education is bad.
But the system was never built to make you move fast.
It was designed to condition, standardize, and delay real-world action.

You sit in class for 16+ years, get a piece of paper, then… what?
Hope someone not in class gives you a job?

Meanwhile, the world is moving.
Skills are shifting.
Industries are dying and being born overnight.

If you’re stuck chasing papers without purpose, you’re not learning—you’re looping.

And the worst part?
Education convinces you you’re progressing, even when you’re not.
You confuse certificates for competence.
You confuse a graduation gown for a growth mindset.
And you wait… for nothing.

So here’s the truth:

A degree with no direction is a distraction.

A course without a cause is a cage.

School without skill is slow death.

Go to school if you must.
But skill up.
Learn how to market, write, speak, code, design, build, sell.
Use your degree as a foundation—not a finish line.

Because the world doesn’t care what class you passed.
It cares what you can do.
