Blue. Color crush of my crochet 💙

Today I’m sharing all the blues I’ve worked with - the yarns, the shades, the makes.

From the deep cobalt of the Azulejo bag, through the soft sky tones of summer cardigans, all the way to the prussian blue of cozy autumn shawls - blue truly does it all.

Save this - it’s the reason your last crochet project didn’t look like the photo 🧡

There are many ways to name crochet stitches around the world - French, German, Russian, Japanese, all have their own systems. But the trickiest are US and UK English terms: they use the same words for completely different stitches.

A US “double crochet” is a UK “treble crochet.”
A UK “double crochet” is a US “single crochet.”

Same words. Different stitches. Different heights.

If you crochet a UK pattern as if it were US, your fabric will be twice as tall.

If you crochet a US pattern as if it were UK, it’ll be tight, dense, and never reach the right size.

📌 The full translation:

🇺🇸 US → 🇬🇧 UK

Single crochet (sc) → Double crochet (dc)
Half double crochet (hdc) → Half treble (htr)
Double crochet (dc) → Treble (tr)
Treble (tr) → Double treble (dtr)
Slip stitch → Slip stitch (finally, the same!)

How to check which terms a pattern uses:

✔️ Look for “US terms” or “UK terms” at the top
✔️ If “single crochet” is listed → US
✔️ If the smallest stitch is “double crochet” → UK

Save this for next time you download a pattern. It takes 5 seconds to check and saves hours of frustration.

P.S. All my patterns are written in US terms - clear, with stitch counts, no guessing. Link in bio 😉

No ugly visible beginning. No chain-3 that looks like a hole. Just a clean, standing double crochet that blends right in.

I use this every time I work with multiple colours - granny squares, blankets, anything where the join shows.

Save this for your next colour change 🧡
