Assayas named his film about an inherited art collection Summer Hours. We are borrowing the title for something lighter.
Museums are running later this season and the gallery district empties out as the art world scatters. Longer hours with thinner crowds make summer the best stretch of the year to actually look at work, without being moved along before you are ready.
If the heat keeps climbing, the cool and quiet galleries are a good place to spend it.

Worth noting that TEFAF is the rare fair where you can buy a Roman bronze, a Lalanne sculpture, and a Rothko in the same afternoon. The “hard assets” framing isn’t theoretical there. It’s the inventory.
