The Dying City
Perched on a hill above the badlands valley, sits Civita di Bagnoregio: a 2500 year old town, founded by the Etruscans, which was later inhabited by Romans. The once thriving town is now known as the Dying City due to erosion from earthquakes and landslides. Four out of five gates into the city have been lost over time, and now there is only one left, accessible by footbridge from the neighboring town of Bagnoregio. While much of the town has been lost, it remains an impressive sight to behold.
