Court notice to Kiran & Govt on Dharmana

The AP High Court has issued notices to both the state government and chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to explain their stand on a petition that challenged the continuance of Dharmana Prasada Rao in the state cabinet despite his being named an accused in the CBI chargesheet in the Vanpic case.

The petitioner, O M Debora, a retired employee, charged the CM for unlawfully supporting Dharmana in the case by refusing to accept his resignation and also passing a cabinet resolution against CBI prosecuting him.

The division bench comprising justice G Rohini and justice P Naveen Kumar issued notices to both the state and the CM, asked them to file their responses and posted the case to June 5 for further hearing.

This development is being described as significant as this will make it mandatory for the CM to explain in writing as to why he is refusing to accept the resignation of Dharmana. Also, the state had not filed its counter in the CBI cases ever since the high court began hearing the Jagan assets cases.

Now, it will need to clarify on the 26 GOs that were issued by the YSR regime. The Supreme Court has issued notices to six ministers including Dharmana Prasada Rao and 8 bureaucrats in connection with the 26 GOs.
