Banihal Police Solves Major ATM Swap Case;
Three Interstate Accused Tracked and Arrested in Leh

BANIHAL, JUNE 26, 2026: In a major breakthrough against financial fraud, Police Station Banihal has successfully solved an intricate ATM swapping case, leading to the arrest of three members of an interstate gang from Leh, Ladakh.
The case unfolded on June 17, 2026, when Police Station Banihal received a formal complaint from a local woman who had been deceptively targeted at a local ATM machine near Bus Stand Banihal. Taking immediate action, Banihal Police registered FIR No. 127/2026 under Sections 303(2) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against unknown persons and launched a swift investigation.
Deploying a mix of technical data analysis and human intelligence, investigators successfully traced the suspects to Leh, Ladakh. Recognizing the urgency, a special police team was immediately dispatched to Ladakh.
Following a surveillance operation, the Banihal Police team successfully tracked down and apprehended the three accused individuals:
Arjun, son of Raj Kumar, resident of Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh.
Shivam Kumar, son of Jagpal Singh, resident of Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh.
Monti, son of Pahal Singh, resident of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
After fulfilling all legal formalities and securing a transit remand from the competent local court, the police team brought the accused back to Police Station Banihal.
Further investigation is actively underway to determine the gang's involvement in other similar financial crimes across the region and to recover the stolen funds. Banihal Police remains committed to protecting citizens from fraudulent elements and urges the public to remain vigilant while using ATMs and to never share their cards or PINs with strangers.
